i do not know, but i hate that mirror thing..
all my life i was scared to death about breaking mirrors, etc,
my family was superstitious.. real bad,
and i went thru a period about ten years ago, i was always, always breaking mirrors, and i was not having a good life, so i decided that every time i break a mirror, i say no i reject any evil i believe in Jesus, and he protects me,
that is what i do , and i feel safer,

You could it interpret it that you have 7 years bad luck when you are more at risk of dieing and therefore you should avoid all potentially dangerous activities. I guess it's a bit like 'Final Destination.' How long can you dodge the reaper when he's on your back? Further to that train of thought everything you do will be dogged by bad luck - therefore to survive 7 years without dieing might be considered good luck therefore you would have to die (perhaps on the 7th year?) or if you had been suicidal when you broke the mirror you might survive 7 more years therefore being regarded as bad luck.

The tradition comes from the idea that the you in the mirror is actually your soul (hence in vampire movies why vampires have no reflections). So if you break a mirror, you are "shattering your soul" and the pieces are stuck there forever. If you go by vampire movies, this means you can't die As we all know, there would be alot of immortals hanging around if this were the case. So no. On the other hand, you're supposed to be able to counteract the bad luck by throwing the pieces of the mirror in a stream. And it's ok to break it if it's not reflecting anyone.

No, Death is the one escape clause to the seven (7) year bad luck rule

well dieing is pretty bad luck and going to hell is also bad luck so i guess no, because u could get cancer and then be sick for the seven years and then on the seven year mark u could keel over and die.

Thats an amazing question....

but whos to say that one can't die with bad luck left over?

what if it carries over to some after-life?

or just all intensifies into a one week session?

I seriously doubt that breaking a mirror gives you immunity to death. As a matter of fact, I think that it would make it much more likely. lol
