we had a project and we found out that when you put the cans on each pitcher, the diet coke floats higher than the regular coke. Why?

There are 9 teaspoons of sugar in coke, diet coke has artifical sweetner, which isn't as dense or as heavy (think of a packet of sugar versus a packet of Sweet N Low). That makes regular sodas weigh more.

And, it makes those who drink regular sodas weigh more too, but for different density issues!!!

A coke has about 30 Grams of sugar dissolved in 11 oz of water

A diet coke has 1/2 Gram of Saccharin dissolved in 11.5 OZ of water.

So Diet is less dense than Regualr

Maybe because its is the reduction of sugar in diet coke than regular coke. It is slightly watered down so perhaps water is less dense than the more concentrated regular coke.
