If you ask a Christian they will say yes. According to all the literature I've ever read, God doesn't give a rat's *** whether you're a good person or not, or whether you obey His/Her laws or not. All God supposedly cares about is whether you accepted Jesus as your savior while you were on Earth.
So according to most Christian dogma, yes, a good agnostic will still go to Hell. And also, if Adolf Hitler, Ted Bundy, and Timothy McVeigh accept Jesus, they will all get into Heaven.

No one can ever know for sure but here is my opinion.
I like the philosophy of Dante's Inferno. The more horrible the crime, the worst the punishment. All the punishments are a reflection of the crime (If you beat someone, then you are beaten). The very first circle of Hell is a placed called Limbo where unbaptized babies, aborted fetuses, and noble virtuous agnostics and atheists reside. In Limbo, there is no punishment other than you don't get into Heaven. Other than that it is paradise.
So to answer your question, Yes a good agnostic or atheist can be spared physical torture in Hell, but they still lose the big prize of not getting into Heaven. What it basically comes down to is: Would you rather work hard, act good, but not be a christian and still go to Hell, or would you rather work hard, act good, be a christian and get into Heaven?

To return to the spiritual world, the individual must make a choice to live a spiritual life, otherwise they would not be qualified to return to a spiritual platform, without being spiritual.
The first point to understand is that we are not the material body, we are the spirit soul that is temporarily covered by a gross material body and a subtle material identity. The soul or self is eternal, at no time in the past did the soul not exist, nor in the future shall it ever cease to be.
Therefore upon leaving the body, if good activities have been performed, then that same measure of resultant activity will be experienced in the next life, also full facility to advance spiritually will be offered for that individual soul to purify their existence and return, back home to the spiritual world.

given that the agnostic is a believer in a creator and is open to other possibilities , if we are to think from a christian point of view .... when faced with jesus an agnostic ( being that he/she ) is open , would happily face jesus and believe with being give such proof .. hence be saved ?
i am not christian but from what i have read on these boards this seems to be how it is done

Good atheists know that no hell exists, so how can they go to what doesn't exist. Good agnostics don't know if hell exists, so I don't know if they can get there, but probably not.

Well, if you're agnostic, then you probably aren't sure if there even is a hell. So I guess it depends. You might go to hell, you might go to heaven, or you might just rot in your box.

As the Bible put it, even the wicked want good for their children.
Being just good doesn't fill all one needs to do to gain salvation.

11What father among you, if his son asks for[a] a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
