Chubby is a very general term, per say. In the dictionary (haha) it defines chubby as: adj : euphemisms for slightly fat; "a generation ago...buxom actresses were popular"- Robt.A.Hamilton; "chubby babies"; "pleasingly plump".

If you are 125 pounds and 5'7, you don't sound chubby or fat either way. You are tall! Tall people should weigh more than people who are 5 foot. Not trying to sound harsh, but I think you already know this for yourself. When it comes to Americans and weight, no one is stupid for what is fat and what is not. Unless these people are in a heavy state of denial, or are truly that uneducated...or if they are just looking for people to tell them that they aren't fat.

I read this in a book somewhere, and I also found it on the website below:

The Average American Woman---- Dieting & Weight Statistics

Has your perspective of your body weight been distorted by the media? (It probably has, in some way.)

The average American woman is 5'4" tall and weighs 140 pounds.

The average American model is 5'11" tall and weighs 117 pounds.

Most fashion models are thinner than 98% of American women.

Four out of five American women say they're dissatisfied with the way they look.

On any given day, almost half of the women in the United States are on a diet.

Sure...that average might also include the 600 pound and 700 pound women you see on TV. Even the millions of people who are 200 pounds--but are still very much overweight--are probably included in that statistic...

But does a 5'11 person and 117 pounds look normal in your eyes?

Your BMI is calucated at 19.6. 18 is the least percentile until you are considered underweight. Yes, the BMI calucation isn't perfect. People with lots of muscle or even a little cannot relay on a BMI calucation because it will say they are overweight when they truly are not.

But I assume you aren't one of those people...seeing that your BMI is BEYOND average. You are considered very fit in BMI standards, and probably in the eyes of many health professionals as well.

Sometimes people mistake lack of muscle/toning for unhealthness or "chubbiness". Perhaps you feel this way. Maybe not. I would urge anyone to lift weights, it creates a sleek look for your body and it boosts your self-confidence, truly. (I'm 5'5 and weigh 140 pounds. I've lifted weights for a couple of years. People may say I'm fat. But I only have a 20% body fat percentage... I'm "underfat" according to tanita.com.) Understand there are different shapes too that people have based on genetics. Pear shape (more fat on the butt and thighs), apple shape (fat is stored more on the arms, chest and back), and the classic shape where fat is mainly stored on the waist and abs. People with different shapes range in different weights. It's important to know you have a healthy lifestyle and you are active and healthy. Exercise (cardio/strength training is a good mix), eat right (you can have a piece of cheesecake and a brownie and not gain weight and still be in good health as long as you excerise!), and have a good attitude. Stress, depression, and mood swings effected your mind and your body.

Don't listen to that guy who said you might be fat if you weigh 125 pounds. Many Americans have mixed-up knowledge over what it is expected from society and what is expected from your own body.

I hope I helped. Good luck and continue to live healthy.

Chubby is when a child is carrying baby fat or is an adolescent and over weight by 30+ or - pounds. Fat is an adult who obviously ceases to care about their appearance and giggles and wiggles when they walk. Why do I say they cease to care?
Have you ever seen a picture of a "fat" holocast survivor who has had no food? If you dont get much to eat you are not fat (unless it is a genetic problem, which most fat people would like to claim. That no matter what you eat you would gain) Then again there must of been a few of those in the concentration camps, in which their were no checks done to see if they would get skinny or not. No food = skeleton. Too much food and no excercise = fat.

I don't judge but I do like your name. Either way, chubby or fat is the same to a lot of people. Some care and some don't.

You can't really judge by weight because muscle weighs more than fat. Someone who is lean can weigh more than someone who is small and out of shape.

To me chubby is cute, attractive weight. It just depends what you like.

well all ppl carry weight differently, but chubby for 5'7 would probably be about 175 to 180.

Chubby or fat is when you can grab or pinch more than an inch around your waist however tall you are.

It would totally depend on who you are talking to....... if you want to know medical standards for your height/weight and BMI (body mass index) go to

http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/

That will tell you medically if you're considered "normal" or "chubby"

If you can pinch more than an inch. It's not about weight, as muscle weighs more than fat.
It is all about shape & perportion, tone vs. jello.
