Is anybody friends with somebody and want to take the relationship to the next level?

For people that have done this, was it worth it? How did you get it to the next level?

My daughter just had a similar problem. She had been friends for two years with a really nice guy she met at college. She wanted it to go beyond the friendship stage but he was in the Army reserves and she forgot about it. Well when he came home they still were friends and talked on the phone and IM etc and one night she got bold and asked him if he would like to hang out. What she found out was that he had been wanting to ask her out but figured she wouldn't stick around because he was in the service. They have been dating steadily now for three months.

I started dating my best friend and We could never really make it work because we were to close of friends. The Romance stuff just never came. Now we don't even hang out and I miss him terribly!
