we live in south africa. we want to move to new zealand. well have to sell our nice big house in the suburbs and take the risk of it not working out as we planned. we might loose everything. but the situation in south africa is volatile and i find myself very pessimistic about Africa in general.

I agree on the part of going on vacation first so you could see where you want to live, see what possibilities are for you to get a job (if you are transferred by the company that you work for even better!...if that is the case), check out of prices for renting or owning a house, if you are satisfied with what you found out, then go back to your country first sell your house (so you will have money) an you would be ready to start your new life.....that's a real adventure!!!....

I'm pretty sure a work visa for new zealand is only good for what? 5 years?... I admire that you're not just falling into a norm. Be reasonable. Figure out where you can survive. Where you can find work, where you can speak the needed languages, where there is opportunity and safety.
Also, determine the worth of your goods/assets. You might know that SE Asia is poor, but this also means your money is worth more. Above all, find work before you move, the internet is on your side.

Well risk is what is the driving force of humanity.....We have always moved forward, be it better or worse, but if you dont take the risk, how will you ever receive the reward? Can you live with it the rest of your life, regretting you never took the risk and moved forward.......I think New Zealand is a great choice, I dont see that much of a risk, just make sure to do your due diligence, moving to another country takes a lot of research....good luck my friend
