No he is not "required" to do anything at the rehersal dinner, but to be there. As far as toasts, go they are to be announced shortly after the main course of the dinner reception, but befor the cake, if no dinner is searved, then it should be done, befor the cake or dancing.

He does not have to do anything special at the rehearsal dinner, but I would make sure he gives his toast and speech before he and everyone else has too much to drink! Save yourselves the embarassment! Good Luck!

basically at the beggining right after you say u love each other infront of eachother and everyone and he should practice a rough draft at the rehersal dinner
