My TKD school doesn't teach it as well as I'd like and there aren't many others around.

It depends on the instructor.

My daughter's karate class did some sparring, but another nearby one did more as the students and sensai's there were more interested in regional tournaments.

You may have more success cross training in another discipline if you don't get enough sparring time, or you need to get a friend to train with or you may need to get driving.

varies.
write down what you are looking for in a school. go to the school and watch and ask if you can take a few classes before deciding. If they say no you can only take one class then go watch a few. If they refuse that then skip the school.
I recently left a school after a few months due to lack of physical training and sparring. I then interviewed about 10 schools to find one that I liked...and there are 5 of us in the family so thats a nice add for a good school.

Some do. Kyokushin usually do, also if you can find Seido, Seiko, Shinsodoka or something similar to that, check it out. However usually those style are done in apan.

If you want martial arts school that is serious about sparring, try Muay Thai or boxing.

Most schools teach sparring, but it really depends how serious/good the school is. Certain schools focus on entering their students into tournaments when others don't. If you are looking for a good school, you should find out which school eners in the most tournaments.

Some schools appear to be just a joke, or are on the level of dance classes or aerobics. If you really want to learn actual street defense, you have to really look around and ask hard questions. I think most places are concerned about making money and will take the easy route.

TKD has 2 branch, ITF(International TKD Federation) and WTF(World TKD Federation).

Both branch has sparring. But In USA, They do not really teach Sparring unless you are in AAU tornament or Olympic try out.

Also, Sparring Style in ITF and WTF are differ. ITF has 2 kinds of sparring; Continous and Point Sparring.
Point Sparring is more like Karate Sparring(you can use punch and kick)
Continous sparring is olympic style(only kick).
WTF has only Olympuc style sparring.

I like WTF better. Becasue Athelic are more quality

look up kyokushin if you want to take karate. they teach full contact sparring, where the only point scored is knockdown.
