The American Heritage Dictionary defines perversion as:

per·ver·sion (pr-vûrzhn, -shn)

NOUN: The act of perverting.
The state of being perverted.
A sexual practice or act considered abnormal or deviant.

According to this definition, perverted people are called so because society considers their sexual acts as abnormal or deviant. Centuries ago in the United States, perverted people were those who society at the time considered sexually abnormal or deviant. Today, however, a perveted person is someone who does sexual crimes (sexual perversion, paraphilia). The term perverted is still loosely used even among my friends when someone does or says something sexually inappropriate.

Homosexuality used to be considered a perversion and may still be seen that way in some places.but is more of a natural thing now.

So to answer your question, many people are perverted because society tells us what is normal and what is not. In any society, there are bound to be some if not a lot of people who do not fit the "norm" sexually or not. =)

You need to be more specific. Does "perverted" just mean they'll do things you won't? That doesn't make them perverted, simply different.

Well, I believe the word is in need of a bit of definition - do you think perverted is a mild or extreme sexual interest? If you think it's a mild interest then you would think that at least 4/5 of the world's population is perverted (guess what? It's absolutely normal to be interested in sex!).

The question should be, why are so many people repressed sexually? Just because you may be young and inexperienced does not mean it's wrong. There are some sick things out there but as long as they are private, who are you to judge. You are not the Moral Majority thank god. Grow up, the world is a big scary place. Either learn to live in it and find the good in things, or bury your head in the sand and pretend everything is perfect like the rest of the idiots in the world.

Because of the degeneration of humans through sin. whether you believe the Bible or not you have to see that theres no one on this earth that hasnt lied at least once, cheated someone or even stolen something, but if you look back in history Ancient Rome and greece were participating in the same practices that are being practiced today. Incest, Homosexuality, Premarital sex, these were all common in greek and roman culture, as a matter of fact they were the norm, but if you notice, when they got to a point where it didnt seem like they could get any worse both of those civilizations got wiped out.

I believe its due to the age we live in.It seems like every society through the ages goes through a time of poverty, growth,prosperity, then decadence/moral decay and perversion. and then collapse.ancient Rome is a good example.
