I have been beat up, downgraded, threated, belittled and generally abused by anti-wiccans, though I still to this day, say nothing bad about christianity, catholisism, islam, muslim, buddhism, or any religeon I didn't mention. Is there a reason behind this inexplicable hatred of witches like myself? and why?

As a fellow Wiccan, all I can say is that we all face terrible backlash for being witches. I also do not badmouth any religions beliefs ( only their actions in hurting others) and yet, I am still somewhat in the " broom closet". I believe that hatred is born of fear, and fear from misunderstanding. They don't understand us, and therefore fear and hate us. It was once that way for most religions... think of the christians being fed to lions. One day the tides will turn, but we must be active to regain our equality.

Blame centuries of propaganda from the Church and other sources (like Hollywood). After hundreds of years of being told "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" its going to take a long time for the average population to look beyond what lies they have been taught. Most people don't even know or understand that Wiccans and Witches today are good people, normal people, who use their religion and magick to do good. They just automatically assume we are devil worshipers who hate the world and throw curses around willy-nilly. The best we can do is try to educate people, and show them by our actions etc that Witches and Pagans are good people.

lol Oh is that all that's happened to you?
One of the reasons you are suffering so, is because as Christians we are told to stay away from things like this, and you are one of those things!
Maybe you'd be happier if you went to another site where people were nicer to you and didn't treat you so horrible! Witchcraft and Christianity don't mix, and you will always get this kind of treatment probably on a site like this.

Well i'm not a Wiccan I am a Pagan, but i have seen both sides and the only thing i see is people fear what they dont understand. Fear escolates into violence. The only other thing is if you look at the history of chritianity and catholisisim you see they have always tried to get people to see things their way with force. My only advice is learn to fight untill we are accepted in our communities.

people are intimidated by things that they don't understand, and unfortunately judge without any knowledge of what they are opposing. ignorant is a good way to describe these people. and by the way i know nothing about Wicca, but i would trust you before a fanatical christian. so i would say don't worry about what what people you don't care about think about you, just be yourself and live a righteous life and you cant go wrong.

Many people fear what they dont understand. Thats why most of us practising witches dont talk about it. Hearing negative feedback from other people can seriously put a damper on your craft if you allow the opinions to cause self doubt.

It is probably because people see wiccan as a religion people turn to as a form of "rebelion", and also because it has ties with "witchery", which is scorned in christian culture as evil devil's work. In other words, it's misunderstood.

babe anyone who doesn't conform to the " norm " has to go through life this way .. although they shouldn't have to , its disgusting
it really does go back to the idea that witches believe in Satan ( which we all know isn't true for the majority )
i really do hope that life treats you with more kindness and people would enquire about what you do before throwing stones
love to you xx

Age old fears. You know Salem and all that, they think back to that and crap their pants all over again. If you get what I'm saying. I'm not Wicca, but I don't have a problem with those that are.

You're looking for it to feel special. I have nothing against you - I love your furniture -- I just bought some Wicca chairs the other day!
