Hi! In December, I will be traveling via plane to Louisiana to visit family for about a week. I want to bring my cat, a one-year-old Bengal, with me. Should I bring her as carry-on? What is the best airline for travelling with a pet? What advice/tips do you have for me? And are there any good sites?

Plan ahead for reservations. Carry on will work. Go to the FAA website for more traveller information.

Be sure to bring toys and smells (like a pillow) from home for comfort.

First thing to do is call some airlines, many will only allow pets to ride in the cargo area. Some allow them as a carry-on but the carrier must be small enough to fit under the seat. Also, get in contact with your vet as you will need a recent health certificate (cat will need an exam about 2 weeks or so before leaving) to prove your cat is healthy and up to date on all her vaccines.

Call the airlines. See what the rules are. Each airline is different. Some will allow pets as carry on and others say they have to go in excess baggage compartment. Vaires.

while i became showing Abyssinians, I had crates sufficiently huge to furnish sufficient room for the cat and a small clutter tray interior the decrease back of the crate. I placed a towel and a toy in as nicely as water on long journeys. i did no longer many times furnish nutrition till we've been making use of without delay by way of. maximum crates comprise a nutrition/water cup that clips on the door. Ten hours is long adequate which you will in case you opt to, or merely feed them as quickly as you arrive. I continuously stopped while considered one of them became pungent, placed the cat into yet another crate and scooped the poop. be advantageous your doors are closed till now shifting the cat around - you do no longer want an get away artist in a wierd place. in case you want your cats to return and forth mutually, you may desire to have an added super crate so that they do no longer sense too restrained. because you have it slow till now the super return and forth date, take some short journeys, like an hour or 2, to verify how they return and forth. My adult males traveled from the time they have been kittens, so it became no huge deal for them. in case you detect that your adult males do no longer return and forth nicely, that's truly useful to ask somebody to come again in and shield them at an identical time as you're long previous, till there's a particular reason you're taking them. each and every so often putting a towel over the crate facilitates. i does not advise tranquilizing them till you have some adventure with how they react to the tranquilizer. Years in the past I moved 2 cats from Texas and tranq'ed them the 1st day, so no longer in basic terms did I truly have unhappy cats, I had unhappy, inebriated cats who sang arias and duets the comprehensive day. solid success.

first of all get a cat carrier made especially for flying and make sure its the right dimensions for the airline you are flying. the last time i flew with my cat the person on the phone who told me the size of the cat carrier told me the wrong dimensions and me and my kitty missed the plain and had to buy i cat carrier from the airport and they charged like 100 dollars for it and my poor cat had to stay in the cat carrier for 12 hours because of missing the plain and everything. it was a night mare. i hope you have better luck than i did.

You should check with airlines well in advance of your trip to see what their rules are. You might want to go to the vet also before your trip and get kitty a tranquilizer so she will be calmer during the flight. Good luck to you and kitty.

do some research, and make your reservations early and talk to them about having your cat as carry on, that's the only way I would travel with a cat.
