It has been that way with people I know of all races-nationalities-religions. They don't have a problem with being called Americans. And we like the foreign "visitors" as well. Nothing wrong with that for the mature people who can handle it.
Very Good Point Savage-
I have traveled with some of different backgrounds and we called ourselves Americans-nothing else.
I like your question too asker.

EXACTLY, we are Americans. Just another tool to divide and conquer. One day we will all fight on the same side.
I recently got to take a trip to the Persian gulf, this little adventure allowed me to visit several countries, every country I visited the question was always the same, "are you American" not African American or Mexican American etc... American, American, American it is what we are, be proud of your heritage but never forget your allegiance.

as long as we shop labels and the African in the previous the yank, there'll be segregation and conflicts between races and ethnicities. If black and american, you're an AMERICAN. no longer an African-American. Political correctness sucks. If all people has the nicely suited to call them selves individuals are the "community" individuals. people ask why we nevertheless have racism, nicely take each and all the labels and months highlithing somebody's epidermis shade and believe me you will do greatness.

Only the Native American (that's why they are called Native) are the only people that were born since the beginning in this land. The rest are immigrants.
The immigrants called this land United States of America, and since then to the world their citizens are Americans.
Only here we make the distinction of what kind of American lives here.......

I'm wary of people who hyphenate their citizenship. Are they completely loyal to the United States or do they divide their loyalty?
I would never call myself a european-american. What the heck is that? I wasn't born in Europe. I have no loyalty to any country in Europe.

In France they refer to everyone as simply French. Because of this they do not know what minority groups are struggling there and that is why they have riots every six months. Also some people are proud of who they are and of their ancestry.

what a load of crap. i know white people who are african american, and i dont go around referring to myself as european american. the liberals have a fascination with group identity and playing down the role of the individual.
don't celebrate diversity, celebrate individuality
