I get little white lumps on my scalp, not attatched to it, they come off! i don't think it's dandruff as they're little white round things and i always use anti-dandruff shampoo. it's not lice eggs as 1/ i don't have lice 2/ they're little hard lumps 3/ they seem to grow from my scalp rather than to be attached to my hair. my ex had a similar thing so i'm thinking it may be something contagious! any clues... oh yeah... sometimes my scalp itches alot and i got little sore spots sometimes too in my scalp
what is it?????

I've tried Nizoral and that has made no difference. I've checked all the psoriasis info and it doesn't seem consistent with that! Still not getting anywhere. Have tried the GP who was useless and said it was nothing to worry about!

I get the same thing too. A few years back, my scalp itched so bad that I ended up with bald patches, which was very pleasant! It happens to me when the weather changes, like summer to winter and vice versa. I've never really understood why though! And it makes an appearance when I am really stressed out. When I went to the doctor, he just gave me some lotion to rub in but I can't remember what it was called, and he recommended tar shampoo (if you can stand the smell!). I've had exzema all my life so I wasn't too worried. My mum tried putting surgical spirit on my scalp once and it cleared it up straightaway. HOWEVER, it stung my scalp when she applied it and maybe you should get yourself checked out by a doctor before you try any of my tips! Try not to use lots of hair products and change (and wash) your bedding frequently. And don't stress, it'll make it worse! I doubt that it's contagious, mine wasn't, but maybe you avoid wearing black clothes for a while!

It *sounds* like Psoriasis, it can be made worse through stress. When my psoriasis gets bad I use a shampoo called T-Gel, or Nizoral. There was one called -or containing - Coal Tar that my mum used to get on prescription from the doctor when I was little. He also told her sunlight helps clear it up a little, although heat can irritate it even more than usual. Head down to your nearest pharmacy/chemist and ask what they can recommend for you :)

Sounds like a form of scalp psoriasis
http://www.psoriasis.org/home/
My Dad has it, and I have it but only at certain times of the year...like at the end of fall or the beginning of summer.
A little dandruff shampoo and I'm good for another six months or so.
But to be sure, you really should see a dermotologist.

Sounds like psoriasis! I`ve ad it since i was young do you ave dry patches on your elbows, knees or other parts of your body. It can effect almost any where i now ave it under my fingernails and also on my joints so it can effect you inside as well as on the surface. Best thing to do is go see your doctor. Stress can be a trigger for it also viral infections i get flare ups when i ave a sore throat, hope this helps.

I think its psoriasis I have it on my scalp its nothing to worry about its caused by your skin cells multiplying to quickly so your get like bumps of skin. It can itch alot but is nothing to worry about. it would be best to get it properly diagnosed by your doctor but you can get special shampoo with coal tar in to help and don't worry its not contagious.

There is a possibility it could be scalp psoriasis; go to a dermatologist.
