He is giving you time. He does want you saved.
He sent Noah out for forty years preaching to the world that their end was near.
But it wasn't until the deluge, is when the people wanted on the ark with Noah.
As far as how people heed warnings, things hasn't really changed.
That is how it will be when people see Christ on the cloud.
They will wish they followed his commandents, and listened to his followers.

Because He is infinitely patient and merciful. You can repent (turn from your misdeeds) at any time before your death.
At death whatever decisions you've made in this life stand for eternity.

God wants everyone to have a chance at repentance. he doesn't want anyone to go to hell, so he gives people many chances to come to him. He wants NO ONE to go to hell, but to live in heaven with HIM.
