We don't "ignore" any parts of the Bible. We just understand that certain Levitical laws were meant for a particular people, at a particular time. A good rule of thumb is, if an Old Testament law is repeated in the New Testament, it is a good idea to follow it.

We aren't to ignore any parts of the Bible. It is all inspired of God, however, there are two sections. The "Old" Testament and the "New" Testament. The second making the first null and void the same as a persons will & testament. If you die, which one are they going to look at and honor. We are living under the new testament laws and comandments today. We are not to observe the laws and traditions of the old law. Peter was told not to call anything God has created unclean [speaking of eating unclean meats] refering to preaching to the Gentiles.
I don't know where it says not to eat shellfish, but, I am allergic, so I don't. The best advise I can give you is to keep studying your bible, quit listening to what other people say is the truth and go to the source. If you were going someplace you had never been before, wouldn't you use a map? Well, think about it, Heaven is the place we want to go. How do we get there, LOOK AT THE MAP. God hasn't made it hard to read or understand.
God bless you in your search for the truth.

your trying to relate the dietary laws that God gave the Hebrews
in the Old Testament and the instructiions God gave to Peter in
the New Testament. As society progressed between these two
eras of believers, this and other food items became "legal" for
those who followed Christ. Int the N.T. book of Acts you will find
the account of Peter being given a vision. In that vision a large
sheet was lowered from Heaven and on it God had placed many
of the animals that were on the forbidden list for the people of
Moses's time. Although Peter was also a Jew, God told him that
all the animals were to be considered "clean" and could therefore
could be eaten. Peter at first refused because he had never
disobeyed the scriptures (Old Testament) concening this dietary
law. God then told him that he was not to call "unclean" the things
that he (God) made "clean". There are other lessons that came from that encounter but this answers the questions about shell
fish.

Do you know that BIBLE is not a single book but a collection of
lots of books and who decided that which books will be included and which will be excluded? Even the number of books varies for different denominations. There are several versions of the BIBLE
also. You can't believe or rely upon such a book. Those who follows it are following errors. The Christians that you see eating shellfish are hypocrates. Why only shellfish? Why they eat swine flesh?
They explain that those laws were meant to be for the Jews for a particular time and Jesus nullified the prohibition.
Again,contradiction.Jesus clearly said---
17- "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
19- Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

According to the Law of the Torah (the Books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), eating certain foods which didn't fall under specific guidlines was detestable by God. When Jesus (being God) came to Earth, he was crucified for our sins. Because it is in the nature of humanity to sin (Original Sin), we must rely on Christ's death as our only means of salvation, because it is impossible to follow all (613, to be precise) laws of the Torah. Jesus' death made it possible to eat shellfish, pork, bacon, ham, shrimp, and all those other foods that were forbidden. We believe in both parts of the Bible, but Christ's death established a "New Covenant" (think of it as a "New Testament"), which replaced the Old Covenant of the Old Testament, thereby the foods that were once forbidden are no longer forbidden.

don't ignore any part of the bible.. but keep in mind that the Old Testament is the old law and the New Testament is the new law. when Jesus came, everything changed. read the Old Testament, then read the New. you'll see that because of god's grace we have lots more freedom. for example, we can eat shellfish.

The Jewish laws past away but not the ten commandments. However, just because the Jewish laws passed away in enforcement and punishment, you can still see truth in them. Shellfish are bottom feeders and are the most unclean of seafood.
