The bible has soooo many hypocritical statements with itself and with religions that use it. Why do so many people (for example, on this site) live their life like is a blueprint. "Whatever it says is right, must be right, and vise versa." And then so many people quote the thing as if it's something that came right out of God's mouth.

Yes, I've given it a chance. I have read the bible more then once, and I grew up christian. I think christianity is great. I just don't believe in basing all of your actions on the bible.

Thank you for your input everyone, although there was no need to tell me my attitude was wrong and then go ahead and quote the bible two times(which in reality proves nothing about me being right or wrong). But thank you for your opinion anyhow.

There is much to learn in the Bible and if we apply it to our lives it makes our life and the lives of others better.
Because I haven't found those hypocritical parts and I have read the Bible through several times in several different languages and translations.

i think it really just depends on how you are raised. like im catholic, but i was not raised a practicing catholic. now, i will go to church occasionally, and i believe in god, saints, and mary, but i personally dont believe or agree with some of the main points that Christians in general believe. (like i believe in evolution and that being gay is not wrong and that your born that way, ext.)
but i have other christian friends who are very religious and follow the bible to a t. thats just how they were brought up, religion being a very strong point in their lives.

well i have no clue if this answered your ? at all but...i tried :)

I live my life around the Bible because I want to live a life that is pleasing to my Creator and because God's wisdom transcends the wisdom of mankind that changes with every wind of popular belief.

Your statement that "The bible has soooo many hypocritical statements with it" demonstrates your lack of spiritual understanding of God's word and your place here in his creation. A correct attitude would be to ask yourself what your ultimate purpose and destiny are here on earth and beyond, and what your response should be to the divine revelation given to us in the Bible that we are all separated from God by our sins and deserving of death as his law requires. Then when you believe in his love and grace demonstrated towards us by sending his dear Son to die on our behalf you can ask to receive the Holy Spirit who will give you understanding and make you a new and truly alive creation destined for eternal life with God.

Luke 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Saying that you don't believe in living your life according to the Bible shows that you have never been born again and are merely a "professing" Christian who if you continue on the broad way that you are travelling will be like the people Jesus spoke of in this passage.

Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many...."Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.' Matthew 7:21-23
