Pros: job security, guaranteed paycheck twice a month, good promotion potential
Cons: Strict appearance standards, required to follow orders of superiors without question, potential danger up to and incuding death
One further pro: You are defending the US, and what it stands for.

first of all its not what you think. The nature of the army is some people get over and dont do anything while others have to work. You will also hear the hurry up and wait saying a lot when you get in. Dont let people fool you up until the day you get out of ait you can back out of the army and not get in trouble. i am really glad that i joined the army and i have been to both iraq and afghanistan. I am now a driven person who knows what he wants and i have the money saved and the college under my belt because of the army. so dont just think that you will figure things out after the army make you plan before hand and make it happen ]
hoah
good luck and have fun

Well, the biggest con is that it ain't the Marine corps. Well that and the whole war thing.
The pros are pretty good though. Experience in a chosen field, real hands on experience. Adventure, $ for college, better oppertunity for a govt. job when ya leave, you learn discipline, teamwork and survival skills. You'll meet tons of people (good and bad) and it'll make ya grow up in a hurry. I am probably missing some things but you get the point...
Oh yeah! God bless ya for serving.

The army itself doesn't tend to care about soldiers. The pro is that most civilians do, especially if you're lucky enough to not be in an army town.
Oh, we also get protested a lot these days. I actually think that's kind of funny.
Basic can be fun when you're not sitting around waiting to do something.

Well there are lots of both ... pros and cons.
First the Pro's:
-Reliable pay check (ya always get paid)
-the money can be good or even great depending on rank.
-unlimited possibilities for advancement
-you get paid the same whether your are male or female
-lots of opportunities to further your education and improve yourself
-get to go new and (maybe) exciting placees
-free medical and dental, etc.
-You get a great patriotic feeling and the honor of serving your country
-You get to carry on a very long proud tradition
-You get paid to go play with guns and cool equipment
-You get paid to get in shape.
-There's always food to eat (and it is pretty decent!)
-Lots of free clothes and cool gear!
-Usually get all the holidays off (if you don't have duty)
-And in my case ... best of all I get paid to fly the UH60 Black hawk!
And I am sure there are many more ...
The Cons:
-You are on call all the time
-Sometimes you get the crappy duties
-Sometimes you have to go to crappy places
-There's always ridiculous amounts of paperwork
-You have to do what you are told
-Have to get up early. :(
Hope this helps! Have fun! It is what you make of it and having a positive attitude helps! ;)
Best Regards,
-LoriDarlin.

Pros- you're in the Army, not in the Marines, so you actually have mature leadership
Cons - I hate walking, and you probably will too. PT is fun though.

Can't answer you question, but I can say... the most important thing you can do is keep yourself alive. The second most important thing is keeping your buddies alive. The third is don't shut down your feelings or conscience. Fourth, come back in one piece.
I don't support GW getting us into this Iraqi mess, but I most definitely support you. When you return, always know there is a huge difference.
