If you are going to suppliment with Creatine you should only use the Monohydrate version. Creatine serums do NOT work and actually contain a poison called creatinine. Check the lab results.

In response to the other answer, yes creatine causes your muscles to retain more water. The idea is to expand the individual muscle cells to be larger because of the extra water they retain. This allows for more protein retention within the cells as well.

There certainly are studies that show creatine helps muscle growth. For example the study published in March of this year by the Journal of Physiology.

Also there is a study that shows that creatine reduces lactic acid build up during exercise:

the truth is, you shoudnt be taking creatine at all, my dad studied creatine during his PHD and NO studies have shown that it actually helps gain muscle, rather, you are just retaining water in your muscle. This water shows up as mass, and may get in the way of slow twitch muscles causing your endurance to go down. better to be taking protein
