White isn't a color, but becomes so when color mixes with it like in cloth. White clothes come in two colors yellowish off white which some will call cream, ivory...and bluish white which is the bone white or starch white. In the past people used to wash their whites with a navy colored substance to make them "whiter", because otherwise they would look yellowish. Yellowish whites yellow more with age and eventually look kinda like an old newspaper.

there is probably a hundred different shades of white. off white, egg shell, celling white, pearlecent white. to name a few.
