I don't know, he has dropped some mighty massive turds, look at most of the people in the Religion and Spirituality section. Or look up Erma Bambrick.

Before I answer your question, let me tell you how you could have saved yourself 2 points by not asking this question...

While you type a question... there is a place below where you type that gives similar questions that have been asked recently...

Since this same, or nearly the same, question is asked every week... you could have found an answer for free from any of the previously asked questions...

now... God gave us free will... so he indeed created it...

God told us that he would never take it away from us... so he cannot lift it...

However, if you voluntarily give your free will over to God (like Jesus did) then he can use it to help you...

free will = the rock that God created and cannot pick up...

he also has made covenants that he cannot deny or refrain from giving the rewards.

Not being able to lift (or in this case take away) something is not a sign of weakness.... sometimes it is a sign of great strength.

I actually love this question because it is so easily answerable.

Your question was first asked by Saint Augustine, but instead of a rock to big to move it was put in the form, "Can God make a rock both big and small?" After much debate the concluding answer is No, no He can't.

This means two things. First, God's power is limited by its own ability. For example, if God were to create something invisible, not even He could see it. However God can lie, cheat, steal, and kill if He wants, but God cannot perform impossible tasks or break His own promises. God's omnipotence is not the strict definition of "ALL things can be done" that most fundamentalists give Him credit for. More and more scholars are agreeing that a better definition of omnipotence should read, "All possible things can be done".

Second, in responce to the original question, Saint Augustine famously wrote, "It is not for us to know". Even though we try our hardest, would if ever be possible to understand the complexity of almost unlimited power? Some sects even consider it blasphemy to attempt to understand God's Will. Personally, I don't see what the harm is in trying, but if you expect to suceed than you need to get your head checked.

So to make a long answer short. No, God can't create something He Himself cannot lift......however, He is still strong enough to squish you like a little bug which is more than enough reason to be worshiped.

On a side note. Another famous question posted by Saint Augustine that you might like was, "What was God doing in the infinite amount of time before He created the universe". Saint Augustine answers by saying, "He was preparing Hell for people who ask stupid questions".

God can't do self-contradictory things. This is not because there is some specifiable thing of which God is not capable, but rather because a nonsensical statement does not acquire a sense simply because the word "God" is prefixed to it. In saying that God cannot create a rock so heavy God can't lift it, we are saying something like, God can't create a square circle. But there is no actual act -- that of creating a square circle -- of which God is incapable, since the notion of such an act is contradictory and incoherent.

Much like your question.

This one has been debated at length since the time of the Greeks.
There is sufficient evidence on both sides of the issue. God is omnipotent and can create anything He choses. Because of the omnipotence, He can also lift it. The answer I favour is no.

The stone God cannot lift?

It is the human heart, unless it is yielded to Him willingly.

The burrito He cannot eat -

That's a matter of wisdom. God's just got better sense.
