I have been walking now for a few months and when I start to try jogging I get really bad shinsplints, any shoes recommened or any other advice on getting started. I wanna get into shape and build endurance.

Build more endurance by doing more walking or intensify your walking with short bursts of speed walking or power walking. Pump your arms, push off with your toes on the back stride. Or walk one block, slow run one block. Then build up from there.

Be sure to do warm up & cool down stretches.

How old are your shoes? shin splits are a cause of bad foot support. If your shoes are over a year old, then it's time to throw those things away because their is no support for real in those shoes. It's also not good to try to go jogging in any walking shoes. Go to places like Sports Authority, Foot Locker,etc to find some running/walking shoes to suit you. To help get in shape,contact some local gyms for some good tips, or even join one. No one said you can't do both. Also a channel called Fit TV offers good tips and workouts. To get rid of those painful shin splits, either take six weeks off to, or just suffer through them. It's your choice.

get a walking meter and some music that you like to listen to also a check up before you do also a good pair of walking shoes is a must and drink alot of water, warm uup streatches and cool down streaches. take it slow at first and you will get to were you want to be in walking.

just start of walking to start and then speed up nut dont go 2 fast . then drink sumthing and start walking then go back in to jogging but do it a good pace for u. streth first!
