"Pairing wine and cheese is ultimately a matter of personal preference," says Lynne Devereux. So plan for four ounces of cheese per person and provide three or four types ranging from soft to hard and mild to pungent. "More than five varieties gets confusing," she says. "Light and fruity wines work best with almost any cheese." Serve aged cheese with milder, older wines -- for instance, aged Gouda with Syrah and Cheddar with Cabernet Sauvignon.

Well it really depends on the wine. Is it red or white? Is it a picnic or an evening event? There are too many factors to consider for such a broad question. Check out this site and there are some answers for you.
