...sitting at the kitchen table eating ice cream, and my mum's screaming caused me to fall off of my chair and take the table cloth with me, should I apologize to her or should she apologize to me?

I broke both of the bowls the ice cream was in (some of mum's finest dishes), spilled ice cream all over the floor, and broke the big vase with the flowers in it which was the centerpiece on the table. Just wondering who was at fault here...

This is very funny. I don't think anyone is at fault...but I would apologize to your mother in any case. I suppose she just didn't expect to see you there with a girl :)

First of all, you have to understand that your mother was obviously upset that you brought a girl home from the pub. Second of all, how old are you? Anyways, the blame is on both of you. She shouldn't have lost her temper and you should have been more calm in that situation. I mean you have company and that is no way to act in front of a complete stranger, even if you know them but your mother does not. You should also realize that your mother didn't cause you to pull on the table cloth but rather that you became scared and grabbed it in a fit or anger. Maybe it was that she physically hit you and therefore I can understand but you should never hit anyone. If she didn't physically hurt you or your company then you should apologize and replace whatever you broke. That would be the right thing to do!

That had to be a sight. It was an accident. Your mom screamed, it scared you and you fell off of your chair down went the table cloth with the dishes and ice cream, chain reaction broke the vase.

Why did your mom scream anyway? Was she happy or had she not ever seen another woman before??

Does your mum need a sedative? Sounds like she's a bit wound up. I'd say there is no real "fault"...it was an accident (if it really occured, which sounds doubtful)...she was startled, which startled you, which caused a domino effect of movement and broken items.

If I were your mum, I would push both of you away from the house. You must not bring a girl into the house. Cuz house is your parents private. Go to SOHO in london. Your mother has a reason.

mum needs to calm dowm --take a time out-- go sit in the corner and reflect on her bad behavior then come back groveling and saying those magic words "I'm sorry my dearest son but i feel i will lose you to some pub sl*t," and you need to get a flat of ur own--

I'd say you both need to apologize. Technically you are not at fault, but it shows great maturity. Be the bigger person!!

Tough call, if she was screaming because your the girl was naked, then, it would be the girls fault, but if she was screaming because you scared her, it would be your fault. If she was screaming because she is an idiot then it would be her own damn fault.

Poor mum. She still has an immature child sponging off of her. Toss him out on his pimply bum, mum.
