go to a lawyer and leagally do it,im pretty sure the biological father has to sign his rights over. is her real father on the birth certificate? there is a leagal thing also that if you put an ad in the paper or something like that under legals.....he has so many days to answer, if he doesnt. judge should grant rights to new hubby. but if i were you, marriage doesnt last forever anymore, and men can be just as sentimental as anyone else and can fight you for custody as he will be a legal guardian with parental rights. i wouldnt do it, i have heard good things and bad things, more bad than good. i think you should let her make the choice when shes about 15 or so........i was 7 when my mom re-married, and 17 when they divorced THANK GOD the man didnt adopt me. i kinda like knowing where i come from.

Don't worry let your soon to be husband adopt you child. It don't have to many men willing to step up and take care of someone else's child. He will be a great dad if you haven't found the child father don't worry your husband will be the only dad she needs.

I agree with the poster who said to post an ad in the paper. It just has to be a small ad but you need to show an effort to publically find and contact him. You also need to speak to your lawyer because there may be more you have to do before she can be adopted. It would be horrible for him to adopt her and then the biological father to step into the picture and try to assert his "rights". Yes, as crazy as it sounds, a biological father has rights even if he disappears for a while.

you do nothing.let him adopt her. if he loves her like she's his own and do for her, then why shouldn't he be able to adopt her. if you are going to tell her once she get to an understanding age that he's not her real father, then maybe you should look for him. but at the same time what else can you say to her but the truth.which is,for an example: it didn't work out between us,so we went our seperate ways and i haven't heard from him since.but when you're older and ready,if you still feel the need to know him; i will help you find him.

Well, I think it is a blessing for you and your daughter to have found a man that is so willing and ready to adopt and raise a child that isn't his. If you trust him, stick by him, and look at this as a blessing for you and your daughter. She will have a father figure in her life which is so great for a girl, when she gets older, she won't try to please other boys at school or cave in under peer pressure looking for that 'father figure' to fill that void.

Don't adopt your children over to anyone for at least several years into the marriage. It's a romantic notion that can become very legally challenging down the road.

if you dont care to find the real father, then just run an add in your local paper and if the father doesnt respond, your new hubby will be able to adopt

DON'T DO IT. i allowed my husband to adopt my two children and then he fought me for full custody of them when we got a divorce 3 years later (after he decided he was homosexual... and his sexuality is a protected class and i couldn't use it against him in regards to custody).
if i had never let him adopt them i would never have to share them with him today (we ended up with 50/50... but still, THEY ARE MY KIDS!)

would this be a step-parent adoption? if so then let him adopt her and keep looking for her natural father because she'll sure as heck have a LOT of questions for him and medical history is vital!!!
