NO driver comments, thanks. Drivers are not the problem here where I live, ok? THEY MAY BE WHERE YOU LIVE, BUT NOT in Northern Alaska, where there is snow and ice 80% of the year.

When I lived in Alaska, my friends drove a Crown Victoria and a Dodge Neon. They really sucked! The Crown Vic was too heavy, and the Neon didn't have any traction.
Any four wheel drive car would do the trick, preferably something with anti lock brakes and positive traction control. It might be a good idea to find something with a bit more ground clearance than the average car, due the the fact that the roads don't always get plowed well! Maybe a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Honda CRV or something similar. If you really want a standard car, I would caution you to make sure it has a high safety rating. I've been in so many fender-benders from the snow and ice that I lost count!
Hope this helps!

Wow, people never cease to amaze me. FWD vehicles handle better in part because they have more weight in the front from the engine, and that they put the torque to the direction you are traveling. I don't know if they can spin out a FWD car, but I wouldn't say it couldn't be done. Unless I was building the Titanic car co.

As for what I recommend I agree with everyone who says Subaru is the best for you. They all have 5 star ratings and their all-wheel drive is the most advanced. If you want to learn more about how it works you can visit www.subaru.com because they have an excellent flash presentation of AWD technology and all the reasons why it works. So I'd say Impreza WRX or if you have the money and want to drive a 6-speed power house the WRX STI.

I don't know if you're looking for like specific cars or not, but generally, what I have found is that pretty much any car with ABS breaks, all wheel drive, and good tread on the tires is a good car to have while driving in on the snow and ice.

Front wheel drive is BY FAR the best on snow and ice! I've seen countless pushers (rear wheel drive) cars loose control because the rear tires loose traction and spin the car around. Pullers (front wheel drive) can't do that. When a front wheel drive car loses traction, the loose end is already in the front so nothing happens!

Modern all-wheel drive might be the best option for you but they are relatively knew and, in my book, unproven. My Hondas seem to do very well in the snow and ice; I highly recommend them. Maybe the Honda Pilot or CR-V?

Good luck!

before everything you mustn't tension on ice. i might basically save some kitty muddle interior the trunk and a small shovel. you may get the little shoveles very nearly everywhere motor vehicle stuff is bought. Walmart, Sears, motor vehicle Zone. STuff like that. Make shure you have good tires before iciness starts off. There additionally are tire chains that are common to placed on before you pass out interior the snow. no longer something fairly facilitates you tension on ice.

Anything with front wheel drive and if it has 4 wheel drive even better. I will never own a rear wheel drive again after driving a front wheel drive on ice.
