I think some people may be afraid, because they don't really understand the religion and they have preconceived notions about the type of people they are. Maybe they are afraid it will rub off on them! LOL.
I have met many people and made friends with them and they found out gradually that I was Mormon. It didn't matter at that point, but I don't think it would have anyway.
Quite truthfully, the people you want to make friends with are ones that aren't judgemental or prejudiced about religion.

Won't do business with them, can't be friends with them. All have a hidden agenda having been brainwashed for years in their churches - to try to convert everyone to their looney perspective on life. They're in denial about the baselessness of their theology, the issue of polygamy, their history of racism against Blacks, and inability to prove to the scientific world for the past 150 plus years their belief that the native American races are descendants of Jews. (Boy would the Israelis like to know that right now!) These morons could use a good deprogramming.

Just ask yourself - for over 150 years - National Geographic, the Smithsonian, the NY Museum of Natural History, and any other learned institution you'd care to name (outside of Utah), none of these institutions with their thousands of experts in archeology, history, anthropology etc. - none have ever said "Here's the evidence - the Book of Mormon is true! Mormons will tell you its a conspiracy. Or that God wants folks to have faith.

For some reason God didn't have that attitude when the Bible was written - its full of verifiable events, historical locations and persons for people to point to even today. The Book of Mormon - Nada. Who wants to be associated with folks who live in a fantasy world?

I have several jack-Mormon friends. While I have met nice Mormons, many are uncomfortable with MY lifestyle. I drink alcohol and caffeine, and am a Unitarian. I refuse to discuss religion with friends. I WOULD befriend a Mormon, but as I said, they tend to drop me, so is generally a waste of my "Friend Making" time.

I am not "afraid" per say. I have many friends online that are LDS, and in real life at the theatre where I recently started doing shows. Our beliefs are different (I'm Protestant), and they know where I stand on issues. I really enjoy discussing doctrine and theology with those of different beliefs. With a group like the Latter-Day Saints, it is just a good idea to be both careful and respectful of their beliefs, while maintaining your own convictions. They are very evangelical and might try to invite you to church, which is fine. Just know what you believe and WHY you believe it, and friendship shouldn't be a problem.

nope! they are also a human that needs friends and people to believe in them. Thats why they eager and never stop evangelizing the word of their so called God.
If you are not willing to participate in their...better not to say against with their believe but to show appreciation what they are doing eventhough it is contradict with what you are believing becuase they have the guts and strength to if you if you not belong to them. You can be good to them even if you are attendin gfor their session. You can be human them by show them more respect and understanding.

well, I have had many ex-Morman friends... but I have never had any actual Mormon friends. Not out of fear, I just never meet any.

No. I would like to hear 'their side of the story' even though I have heard many people put them down.

NO WAY! GREAT PEOPLE! I used to work with four of them...three were back from their Missionary work.

Very interesting stories.

They may be LOST - but that's no reason to dislike them
