Lourdes,
A pet groomer is someone who has gone to school to learn how to (groom) maintain the coat of an animal.By maintaining I mean bathing and properly cutting the hair of an animal. Mostly dogs. In taking this class they learn about the different breeds of dogs and what their coat should look like on a traditional basis. In other words you wouldnt shave the hair off of an English Sheepdog since traditionally their coat is meant to be long and shaggy. Not all dogs are pedigree so the groomer also has to be able to listen to what the owner wants and also make suggestions as to what would be the right cut for the animal depending on if the animal is a housepet, or is an outdoors pet. In some cases the animal may work (like the Doberman Pinschers you see that are trained guard dogs) As far as the salary it really depends on where you live and who you work for. I dont know if this is a job that there is a large demand. Most of my friends dont have pedigree dogs and so they bathe and groom the animals theirself. However my friends with rather large dogs do not want the bother and so they take their pets to the groomers. What a great business you could start if you wanted to be mobile. I have seen a few mobile pet groomers on the road. They alll seem to be busy! My mother raised Miniature Schnauzers when I was growing up. A good suggestion for you if you are considering going to school for this would be to go to a local dog show so that you can see what the different breeds should look like. Most of the popular breeds that you will see in a dog show would probably what you will be working with if you do go into dog grooming. slparrott2000

a pet groomer is someone that bathes and cuts your dogs hair.
the amount of money a person can make depends on sevearl different factors, mainly location, and the breed of dog they specialize in as the type of cut and the length of timew it takes to groom a certain breed.
around here(tennessee), the specific area i live in, groomers are plentiful, a lot of competition, so they really dont charge a lot, however, we usually have to pay about $300.00 for our 2 dogs because they are big, and they have to be sedated.

Uh - they groom pets? I would suggest that if you're thinking of going into the business, first, learn to spell.
Then you have to take a course in pet grooming which can cost around $2500.00.
And you'd better love animals. A lot.

The wash pets like dogs and cats then brush them and cut their hair. If you build up a good clientele you can make a lot of money
