I had a cat that loved car rides. He would sit on the dash and look out the window. My two dogs were terrified. The older one would hide her head under the seat and shake.

Cats are territorial, creatures of habit and hate change. A car ride, unless you do it at the same time everyday, violates all of the above for a cat.
Dogs on the other hand just want to be with you. A car ride is great because they get to go instead of being left behind again. The sights and smells are exciting, and if you go somewhere dog friendly and you have a friendly dog, there are new friends to greet. Dogs love that.

I totally agree with some of the answers. Dogs are people friendly and just love new adventures and being with their owners. To be separated is a dog's worst nightmare. But cats are very independent - and as long as they have their food and a litter box - whoopee!!!
I have 2 friends who have 3 cats each - and I have had cats. I had one Manx cat who was absolutely priceless - what a personality that guy had. But no way would he get into a car.

cause dogs are cool and unlike most cats really want to be around their owner including car rides, cause a dogs smart enough to figure out its a way to get out of the house and maybe even a treat at the end.

Dogs love them because they like the adventure and getting to leave the house for a while, plus they get to smell so many new things while sniffing out the window.

dogs are more adventourous, so they like to go on car rides, and roam the world, like a mini-adventure, but cats are more lazy lay-at-home types. it's not a bad thing, it's just true. cats prefer rest, and dogs prefer adventure.it's just the facts. nothing bad :-)

I guess dogs just like looking around and being of the car. Maybe they like the movement of the car and or just relaxing and chilling.
