Isn't that the cutest? And they purr their little heads off, so pleased with themselves . . .

My two cats do that too. They just want attention when they feel like getting it not when you want to give it. For some reason their favorite times to interupt are when you're reading or are on the computer ( they walk right over the keyboard or lay down on the mouse).

Cats can be a bit moody. Sometimes they want attention, sometimes they just want to be left alone.
My cat is known for wanting attention while I am on the phone. Why? She assumes I am talking to her:)

It's their job! And it's not only the paper, mine likes to jump up between me and my computer, especially when I'm typing. She's the reason I always use spell checker.

They like to get your attention when THEY wish...
And reading the newspaper somehow makes it obvious they are not getting your attention.

They always want to be the center of attention. Nothing else can have your attention.
