Honestly, I extend an invitation out there for anyone who wishes to speak with me over these matters. My name is Fr. John Forbus. I am a Catholic priest. This invitation goes out to anyone even our Atheist brothers and sisters, our Jewish brothers and sisters, Muslim brothers and sisters, Wiccan brothers and sisters, etc. etc.
However, it is my hope that all who answer really wish to discuss and not come to the table with insults or hateful statements. If we gather in this site, then we are here to feast on one anothers knowledge and enjoy each others limited presence (since this is the internet and I cannot meet you all in person together). So, come if you wish.
May the Lord bless you and keep you all. May He let the light of His face shine upon you all.
God's and your beast of burden
Fr. john

Thank you for your kind thoughts Fr. John, but for now, I'll not avail myself of your gracious invitation.

I would like that very much, actually. Being raised Catholic, then moving to the mostly Baptist area I am in, the kids told me I was going to hell... And I don't believe in any such anymore. I spent seven years Atheist, we can talk that part of my life over if we speak later. I accepted Jesus and he came into my life, and he put into me the drive to seek Wicca. There are a lot of people who would work darkness, and I believe these I meet I am almost responsible to try to help... Because I work in Love and Light, seek enlightenment in this life and not the next, I try not to get caught up in their bad karma; There are some you meet that need you to help, then there are others who are there to test you.
I am glad to see you Capitalized my Faith. I am strong in my connection with the Lord and Lady, and I look forward to seeing just how YOU would percieve how a real Wiccan who abides the Rede. We have been greatly slandered. But as any faithful person does, I try to bring to the table the truth about what being Wiccan really is. Because the Lord and Lady are just facets of Our Divine Creator- and we all have God,dess inside of us.
Brightest Blessings, Father John. I look forward to your reply.

learning, not indoctrination, is preferred by many who ask questions. however, many who answer speak the doctrine learned in sunday school, not from familiarity with those things which, regardless of source, can enlighten the thought of what is and isn't a part of religious training. I have asked questions and been insulted, vilified, accused of heresy and all other mannner of name-calling. few however, have been able to truly understand the question, fewer still could even attempt an answer if they couldn't use the bible thumping of the sunday school theocrats. while not catholic, i have been exposed to its teachings in some ways, but in other religions and philosophies as well. not being a particularly single minded person, it may be possible to ask and answer even some heretical texts questions, unless you would prefer not to be asked about them. Ive read many, but i am neither a believer or disbeliever in anything, since only when one seeks an answer can one find one. how do you see this?

I wouldn't choose this place to do it. I find it rather sterile. It's difficult to really get a fluid discussion when only one question and one answer is given.

A site that is more conducive to conversation would be better for that kind of thing.

If you are Roman Catholic, what is this calling Muslims brothers and sisters?

They are not the brothers and sisters of Jesus. I don't mean this as hateful, but I have to make sure I'm not wasting my time with some kind of emphasis on a Ba hai style worldly church discussion. Jesus already drew all the lines necessary to make a distinction between those that are His, and those that are not His.

I would love to have an intelligent conversation (for once) on these topics. I really enjoy having "arguments" (I use the term in the scientific sense) about religion, especially with my stepfather, who is a Jehovah's Witness. I myself am an atheist.

Thats a gracious and magnanimous invite.I do enjoy polemical discourse.

However, before I commit, will you answer one question? What do you think about the work of the Jesus seminar?

Just so you know, I was born an iconoclast.

I would talk. I think more people are looking for answers than there are those who want to fight about it. I am catholic (but not a very good one)
Where do you want to chat at?

If you're serious, you're on the wrong site. It seems that nobody here can hold a decent conversation about any religion.
