Don't assume it's Windows XP. I've run it for years and had no problems. I have had problems with some connections I've had, and sometimes the server has sucked with a capital "S", but WindowsXP has never caused me any problems. Check for something else besides Windows XP. That would be the smart route to take in any repair process. God Bless you.

How fast is the hardware in your PC? How much ram do you have, what is your processor speed? Are you connected to the internet by dialup or cable? Are you running a firewall? Is your virus scanner scanning everything as it comes in? Does your spyware program run and examine every piece of data that you receive? Answer these questions, and you will find out why your PC is slow.

Couple of things you should do...
a) Defrag the hard-drive, and run the system cleanup.
b) Find a registry cleaner...I use cccleaner. It'll do a deep clean of the system plus fix any registry problems...best part is, its FREE.
c) it may just be some netlag too...
I don't know which spyware remover you use, but its always best to run 2...I use the MS antispy and adaware. Sometimes things will slip thru one, but usually the other catches the problem. Just make sure with MS antispy, that if you use anything like firefox, don't let MS reset everything to IE.
Hope this helps.

Stay away from Apple if you like upgrading your hardware or playing games. Probably a virus. Hit ctrl-alt-dlt and check your processes to see what's hogging your cpu.
Then Google the abusive program to see if it's malware. And how to remove it.

my advice is format your windows drive, install a new copy, just after you install it install an antivirus and a spyware remover, i recomand (Kaspersky and spyware doctor).. installing an antivirus now may be no good, it'll never be the same again..

You can run "msconfig" from the "Run" option and choose which programs start up.
Select which programs you want to automatically launch at startup and see if that identifies the problem.
