1/2 part white vinegar to 1/2 part rubbing alcohol is "the usual" home remedy for preventing "swimmer's ear" and getting trapped water out. You may also heat some water in the bottom of a coffee cup(30secs) and place your ear sideways on the rim of the cup, in order to steam your ear (be sure to not put a lot of water in or overheat!). The steam will help loosen earwax that may be contributing to the trapped water; this also works for congested ears and equalizing pressure in ears if they won't "pop" on pressure changes, such as in a plane or driving through altitude changes.

I remember having that problem and all I did was to roll up a piece of kleenex into a long, skinny toothpick shape and gently push it and twist it into my ear. Of course, the kleenex is too soft to hurt anything, but it will absorb any water in there.

a few drops of rubbing alchohol will evaporate quickly and take the water with it.
