The car must get good gas mileage and it does not matter if the car is used or not preferably under $10,000

< 10g's, it will definitely be used. DO not buy a new car for that kind of money, you getting nothing but a HUGE headache and a disposable car.

for 10g's you should be able to find a 3 - 5 year old Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic from a PRIVATE individual. You want to buy as close to Kelly Trade in Value as possible. Dealers pay pretty close to Kelly "poor" condition. You want as close to that as possible for one in at least good condition.

Sellers lie. If they say it's "pretty good", most likely it's pretty rough. If they say it's perfect, most likely it's good. Especially if they say "perfect for a ......"

However, with the civics and corollas, it's worth it to pay more. They are outstanding machines that get great milage, are safe, and will quite possibly run forever.

A Geo Metro, or just about any American car.
That way he/she would learn how to repair cars.
The best Ford is an Escort even better then the Probe.
They both come with Japanese engines most of the time.
The best car is a Toyota or a Honda but Not an MR2.
The Accords in the 80s & 90s had weak transmissions.
The Nova of the 80s had a good Toyota engine and did the Geo Prism, Storm. The Metro had a Suzuki engine which was really OK but had poor body integrity.
Hope this info helped.
Sorry we Americans are not building a car as good as the Japanese. It's embarrassing to me.

A Ford GT. Garanteed to get you laid!

ok, under $10. I'd go with grungy, pick up a decent '60's mustang. Easy to get parts for and work on. Affordable. Decent milage and performance. Relatively safe because they're big by todays standards, but not too big. Something in the 5-6k range would get you a driver that isn't rusted out and still be way cooler than a houndu.

Honda, Toyota, & Nissan make good cars with awesome mileage. Find a used Honda or Toyota, those cars will last a long time (long as you car for them) and go easy on your pocket when dishing it out to pay for gas!

Toyota Corolla. Great gas mileage, outstanding dependability, great resale value, practical. Maybe a touch boring, but you'll appreciate not having to deal with a broken down car.

Any one with air bags and the side air bags as well. You will need all the safety equipment in order to survive the odds and make it Through High School. Also prior to purchasing check the cost to insure.

Try Honda. They have good gas mileage, that's one of their specialties. Their Civics are priced well too.
