Every church that teaches the Word of God and has it's majority attendance from among those who are of The Church of Which Christ is The Head will have reddaly available a statement of Faith and some document like a constitution for the church... read those...and if you can aggree with them then that is the place to start... try it and see how it goes.
I recomend a small Bible Baptist or Concervative Baptist congrigation... And attend both sunday school and worship service... they will probably have a bible study group...usualy for men and for women... attend there also... get involved in what activities they have... that is the only way you can get to know them and their honest belief...

Start reading some websites on each denomination to figure out which ones share the same beliefs as you do. Once you have narrowed it down, consult a local paper for the churches of that denomination in your area, or ask to go with friends who go to churches near where you live. Commit yourself to trying different churches for six months before you decide to become a member at any one church. You will find that some suit you while others do not. It's like trying on a pair of shoes - you will know when it fits.

I was 57 when I was saved and started church, but I was very fortunate, and this is my testimony and I am not making fun of you or ridiculing you, so please don't take it that way. But I went to a few different churches and did a lot of praying about it, and the Holy Spirit guided me to a church. I have been a member of that church for some time now, and do not feel I would be as happy someplace else. Pray is the key word here. Pray and Keep the Faith. God bless you.

I would recommend going to a Baptist church or a non-denominational church like mine. Don't go to some liberal compromising church like a Methodist, Episcopal, Anglican type church that is willing to change the truth of God to suit the shifting winds of societal opinion. On the other hand don't go in the opposite direction and join a radical Pentecostal/Charismatic church that overemphasizes the gifts of the Spirit instead of the gift of Jesus.
Look at their belief statements. As an example, my church is a Bible teaching, Christ honoring, Spirit led church and you can view our core beliefs on our web site at http://www.alcf.net

Why in the world would you want to go to a church? OK, maybe you want to sing and jump and shiver and cry and howl and give your hard earn money to that dude on the pulpit, if thats the reason, any church will do. If you want to know the Love and Comfort of the Word of God. read your Bible.

Try a different church each week and see which one makes you feel more at home. Just beware of the fact that some churches want to brainwash you. Blessed be.

Look for the nearest Seventh-day Adventist church and attend there. They worship on Saturday which is the Bible Sabbath so don't try to attend on Sunday as they will not be there.
If you follow my advice, don't forget to let me know what you think of the people there.
God Bless You and your children.
