Agnosticism is the philosophical view that the (truth) values of certain claims—particularly theological claims regarding the existence of God, gods, or deities—are unknown, inherently unknowable, or incoherent, and therefore, (some agnostics may go as far as to say) irrelevant to life.
The term and the related agnostic were coined by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869, and are also used to describe those who are unconvinced or noncommittal about the existence of deities as well as other matters of religion.
The word agnostic comes from the Greek a (without) and gnosis (knowledge). Agnosticism is not to be confused with a view specifically opposing the doctrine of gnosis and Gnosticism—these are religious concepts that are not generally related to agnosticism.

Someone who does not know what path to God is correct, so they admit that they do not know the answers. They believe in unbelief. I was an agnostic before becoming a Christian, but eventually found that there was a "truth" out there, despite the fact that I didn't like it when Christians sometime witness in a pushy way.

Basically an agnostic is someone who takes no position on the exsitence of God -- he doesn't believe in God, but doesn't affirmatively deny the existence of God either. Presumably he is willing to be convinced, just hasn't been yet.

Everyone has faith, it is a question of what you believe. Theist's have faith in the existence of God. Atheist's have faith in the non existence of God. Agnostics have faith in the belief, that they don't know whether God exists or not. So, there are three positions concerning faith in God, Yes, No and I don't know. Agnostics are the latter.
