Looking for a recipe for deep frying bananas on a stick. I have found many recipes for asian or rather Thai deep fried bananas but what I am looking for is to put a stick in the banana, batter it, and then deep fry it. I was thinking I had heard of something like this out in the California area. Any one have any ideas on this? It would be used as a dessert. Thanks for your help.

I like this one, but the bananas are sliced. Maybe the batter is the same:

Deep Fried Bananas
3/4 cup white rice flour
1/4 cup tapioca flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1 1/4 cups water
10 bananas
3 cups oil for frying

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
In a medium bowl, mix rice flour, tapioca, sugar, salt and coconut. Stir in water, a little at a time, and mix to form a thick batter.
Peel the bananas and cut each lengthwise into 3 or 4 pieces. Heat oil in deep-fryer or deep wok to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Completely coat each banana slice in batter, then fry in hot oil until golden. Drain on paper towels. Serve at once.

Another good deep fried item is periogies, boil them first the drain and deep fry. Buy them at the store or make your own. I wrapa tortilla around a hershey plain candy bar. Secure with a toot pick (it will over lapa lot, let it) Fry and drain, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Make up a beer batter and dip snickers and other cady bars in the batter and then drop in the fryer. Anytime you use a wet batter lightly wipe the tip off on the side of the bowl (it will run right back down that way anyway) And when you drop it in the oil take the time to hold it at the very tip, submerging in oil as far as you are comfortable with, and let the batter kind of seal. This will prevent sticking to the bottom of the fryer, and also having them look like one big blob..

1. Peel bananas and cut them into 1.

3. Heat frying oil till moderately hot.
4. Dip the banana chunks into the batter, lift them out one at a time, tap off the excess batter and put them into the hot oil.

6. Lift them out right away and drain on paper towels.
7. Have the bowl of ice water nearby.
8. Put sugar and sesame seed in a clean dry pot, melt the sugar till it darkens a little.

PANIKEKE LAPOTOPOTO (DOUGHNUTS)

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. salad oil
1 tsp. coconut extract
1/4 c. Carnation canned milk
1/4 c. water
2 very ripe bananas, mashed
vegetable or peanut oil for deep frying
Granulated sugar (optional)
Coconut syrup (optional)

Sift flour and baking powder. Add sugar to dry ingredients. Add remaining ingredients. Stir with spoon to mix well. Heat oil in medium size pan to 380 degrees. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into hot oil. Cook until brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper toweling. Roll in sugar or dip in coconut syrup while hot if desired. The balls should turn over with very little help.

I suppose you can make the batter w/o the mashed bananas and then put your banana onto a stick dip into powdered sugar to lightly coat then into batter and then deep fry for the same flavor. Maybe dip cooked deep fried banana into melted chocolate and then into chopped walnuts or toasted coconut.

Option #2
Wrap peeled banana on a stick in a lumpia wrapper and seal edge with beaten egg/water mixture. Deep fry and then put cinnamon sugar over the hot deep fried banana.
