Hey, I have to give a talk on the word of wisdom tomorrow. I think i want to go in the direction of blessings from following the word of wisdom. Any of you fellow mormons out there have any good examples or anything i could use in my talk tomorrow? Any help would be appreciated. And no stupid remarks from those of you who don't know what i'm talking about. Thanks!

Well, since you are probably going to be speaking largely to Church members, I would emphasize that many of us (myself included) have a tendency to forget to emphasize the important "do's" in the Word of Wisdom rather than the "do not's." For example, we all have a tendency to reach for fast food rather than studying herbs and vegetables and fruits in their season to learn which ones are best for us. Also many of us have a tendency to cut back on sleep instead of going to bed early and getting up early. I have heard Church leaders say they get inspiration more clearly by following that rule. If you get enough rest then you are better prepared to learn and serve.

Well, good health, clear mind, longer life on this Earth?

Having you health can give you more time to spend with your family or out on church activities.

Having a clear mind (i.e. no drugs or alcohol) can prevent you from getting into compromising situations, where you might break other commandments because of your loss of inhibitions. Learning to do all things in moderation can help you control your emotions and urges in other facets of life.

Where are you giving this? Sacrament meeting or primary? Kinda depends on how 'deep' you want to get into it....

The best wisdom would be for the speaker to tell all of the listeners to stop following the criminal (provable by court records for fraud and supposedly being a seer) Joseph Smith Jr and the other false 'prophets' of mormonism.

There are people that may praise God but their heart if far from God. God will make foolish (Morono) this Wisdom.

Also 1 Cor 1:17-21: For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the good news: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made fo non effect. For the preahing of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of he wise, & will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise, where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish (morono) the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God. It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
