i brought the car which is a 2001 dodge neon with cash ($3200) and the lady that sold it to me said that she could not findthe pink slip but she said it was registered but needed renewal and told me i could get a duplicate title for the car. I brought the car a year age and 7 months after i brought the car i was informed by the former insurance company that the car was a salvaged vehicle and the current "clean title" that i had on the car was invalid. I have never had any problem with this car except one time the motor just cut off while driving but that was it. Is there any thing wrong with having a car with a salvage title. Would i be able to use this car as a trade in for a newer car?

If this is a good car be prepared to keep it forever. It sounds like it is titled as a 'rebuilt / total'. This makes the resale value almost worthless. (example: would you have purchased it if you had known?)
Now -- almost every state I can think of has a legal disclosure law when selling an automobile. If you were not told, in writing, that this was a salvage vehicle you may be able to return the vehicle and recover 100% of ALL expenses involved. You will most likley have to (yuk) hire a lawyer to handle this and you will not recover anything if the seller is a bum, scam artist or just broke. Forget about trades -- you will get pennies on the dollar for your car at a dealer.

No. You bought a junked rebuilt car. In most states you only have 30 days to change over the title, and apparently you didn't. By your comments it took you 7 months to realize the title was no good. After that amount of time I'm not sure you would have any recourse against the seller, but I would run it by an attorney to see. Never buy a car without a good title AT THE SALE.

If you read the problems in here, most of them are because someone bought a car without a title. Don't do it. Problems solved.

AS far as the the car goes, it's only worth what a salvage co. would give for it, in running condition, and that's about it, so as a trade in, it has no value. If you want your money out of it, sell it as is for slightly less than that of blue book. Or keep it till the wheels fall off, and then junk it.

If you don't have a valid title, how did you get license plates? In some states, a salvage title cannot be transferred. Contact a lawyer. The entire transaction may be illegal.

Many car dealers won't even take a rebuilt vehicle on trade. You could sell it yourself, but be sure to have the buyer sign something that states he knows about the car being a rebuilt.
