90% of the US population may have come from migrant families but that makes no difference. That 90% earned their citizenship and fought fare and square for this country and also had their share of hard work. Back then the country allowed it, there were no laws. It is the Illegal immigrants today that are causing the problems. Earn your right to be in this beautiful country and there will be no problem. I know plenty of people who immigrated, but they earned their right first.

Well let me tell you that NOT all immigrants that are illigally here came crossing the border illegally, i know people that came here LEGALY and then stay.... i believe that what the congress is doing it's hypocrecy, you know why?? because almost all americans are descendents of immigrants... also, you have no idea of what is poorness and what is living with just $50 a month, you don't have idea of what is not having enough money to support your children's education, i think you should go to live some time in a poor country and know what is living like that... and also, not all hispanics are mexicans, there are 40 hispanic countries ok

I completely agree with you. Illegal immigration will always be apart of rich countries and whatever we do, it will always be present but the ones who get to this country have to prove that they can work and will work hard to prove that they earned the right to be here.
At the same time it is very hard for immigrants to integrate when they lost their family, the ones they loved or if they are sick for example that's why we always have to make sure that help will be there for them in times of need.

My grandparents had to learn English when they got here. They put away the flag of the country that they came from and flew the flag of the country that was giving them opportunities they would never have had had they not left their country. They went through the process to become citizens, and worked. They did not come her pregnant, pump out their kids, then expect a free ride.

Why does thinking the immigrants of today should have to do the same make me a "bigot"?

Actually back then they KILLED to get the land. Should mexicans just come over and start killing people and stealing their homes like we did to native americans? You cannot compare the two!
Dont get me wrong I'm against illegal immigrants but you honestly cannot compare the two, like you said, back then there were not the kind of laws we have today

I think you're on the money there, legal immigration is ok, illegal immigration is emphatically NOT ok. US citizens need to demand from their city/state/federal govt. ppl that this issue be taken up and dealt with thoroughly, honestly, professionally, and quickly. If they can't/won't, it's recall election time...too many fishy deals, too many conflicts of interest, too much payola for this to be handled in slipshod fashion...
