This question made me laugh out loud. I was really frustrated because I've been working all day, or trying to. Anyway..Thanks.

She didn't ask why do we have buttholes people. I think that is fairly obvious. I can't believe that out of the first 22 answers only two mention that the butt is a muscle used for standing upright walking etc. You guys are scaring me. Are there are only 3 people left who know what butts are for?

Well if you didn't have a butt, what would you sit on? No butt would be...air space? I really wouldn't want to stand all the time!

actually it's partly because we stand upright.
the gluteus maximus that forms most of the butt is the principal muscle used in helping us keep an upright posture rather than being bent over at the waist all the time.

The gluteus maximus muscle or butt is actually part of the thigh muscles and is one of the muscles that help support the upper body, making it possible for us to walk erect.

It's natural padding for your bones when you sit. Of course, some people seem to have way more than necessary.

because when we sit down, it puts pressure on the area and it provides a cushion so we dont bruise our bone. HAHA
