Yes, the US legal drinking age i s21. In some counties in some states, you cannot buy liquor at ANY age. They are called "Dry Counties" and decided not to adhere to the Amendment repealing Prohibition. One of these "dry" counties is in Lynchburg TN, where they make Jack Daniels.

Yes. I thought Wyoming was the last state to go from 19 to 21. The reason was that the Federal Government was going to withhold road construction money (a very big deal in Wyoming) until they raised the drinking age to 21.

The last state to raise their legal drinking age from 18 to 21 was Louisianna. If I remember correctly, it was changed in 1997. So your answer is yes, it's illegal to purchase alcohol in the U.S. if you're under 21.

I can't say for certain, but I know it is in Arizona. But, more likely than not, all states probably have the same law. Can anyone fill us in on this?
On a humorous note, I'm WAY PAST 21, but was recently "carded" when buying wine coolers. LOL! It just happens to be that store's policy, regardless of how "old" you look.

I believe the federal government witholds certain types of funding for states that don't have the legal drinking age at at least 21.
