The "proof" is a certificate of insurance that you'll get form your agent, after you buy general laibility insurance that has product liability insurance included in it. How expensive it is depends upon what kind of products you sell, whether they are imported and of good quality, and how many you sell, along with your claims experience (more losses you've had, the more you will pay).

It's a certificate of insurance, that says you have product liability coverage. First you buy the policy, then you ask for the proof, or certificate.

Cost and availability depends on what the product is, what the market is, and what your annual sales are. If you manufacture airplane parts, it's really, really expensive.

Is it expensive?

This also depends on the industry experience for the same product. If your competitors have had a lot of products claims, you will suffer in your own rate.
