In 2099, the same things that hapend in 1999 will hapen : a big party at the end of the year and a irrational fear that computers will stop working (yes, even if the problem is solved, people will keep fearing it : people are usually irrational...)
You'll probably ave a few wars here and there, and everyone will be more concerned about himself or herself than the preservation of the earth and peace : that is, they won't care about their children lives...
Conclusion : nothing will change. Humans are like that.
