because they dont have to be held accountable. They think they can hide behind their computer.... Just coz Im a christian doesnt mean you can walk all over my faith. I dont go on here and bash other religions.

You might be surprised to learn that, as a rule, athiests and agnostics know much more about the bible, Christianity, and the history of Christianity that most Christians do... INCLUDING most preachers. Guess what... that's WHY they're atheists.
"A thorough reading and understanding of the Bible is the surest path to atheism” ~ Donald Morgan
Atheists are, for the most part, rational people. For that reason, evidence and knowledge shape their world... not 'faith and 'belief'. Faith is a substitute for evidence... belief is a substitute for knowledge. Neither faith nor belief are sufficient to sustain a rational world view... they are only sufficient to sustain willful ignorance and delusion.
For that reason, rational people are not very impressed with the usefulness of a world view that is rooted in the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of an ignorant bunch of Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders, declared to represent some kind of cosmic 'TRUTH' (without the least bit of credible evidence).
Rational people do not find it reasonable to accept as fact things like:
*Â Â a universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven
*Â Â solid 'firmmament' structure (the sky) seperating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth)
*Â Â talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys
*Â Â shepherd staff turning into an asp
*Â Â demons chased out of people and into pigs
*Â Â friendly spirits
*Â Â evil spirits
*Â Â walking on water
*Â Â multiplying loaves and fishes
*Â Â food falling from the sky
*Â Â conception by a ghost
*Â Â people raising from the dead
*Â Â the sun stopping in its tracks
*Â Â parting seas
*Â Â people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky)
*Â Â world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain
*Â Â creating people from dust bunnies and ribs
*Â Â magical tree of knowledge
*Â Â god speaking from a burning bush
*Â Â ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker
It seems that you don't have any problem with that stuff... so, party on, dude. However, when you enter into a public forum, like this one, and start babbling and regurgitating that horsesh*t, and declaring it to be the 'truth'... well, don't be surprised if you are confronted. Vulnerable minds need to be protected from you.

IN the end many of us are trying to find someone who might adequately argue their position. If your going to yell your beliefs from a mountain top don't expect to stroll down the road unscathed from wondering minds, or haters. Know your stuff front to back and nothing they say will matter; you will have something meaningful to tell answer in your turn. I don't have a religion, though I used to be an ardent christian. Not all of us are mindless, ignorant, people with nothing better to do.

I'll explain it to you like this. The Catholic church ruined the way that i veiw religion. I'm a non-practicing roman-catholic, because when looked deeply into my religion, i found many contradictions and other things like that. So, i started looking into other religions deeply, and I seemed to keep finding the same contradictions and what seemed like they could be lies, in each one. I do respect religion-to an extent, but some(not all) people will try to force their religion upon me, while i dont force my non-beliefs about religion on THEM. I do believe in a higher power but not exactly the way he/she is written about in holy books. I'm not prejuidice against anyone because of their religious faith-my boyfriend is muslim.

I respect no ones religion, if i had it my way all religious people would be wiped of the earth, all they do is whine and complain about morals and values!they value morals above progress! progress is what must prevail not some cheap pipe dream about a non-exist afterlife! Most of the suffering and restraint on scientific discovery were a result of your stupid religion , its about time humanity ditch this worthless and primitive mental self defense mechanism and start progressing dammit!!!!

As long as people do not attempt to bother me by proselytizing their faiths to me, I see no reason for mocking their beliefs. In general, however, I must submit that whenever people publicly ask questions on any topic here, they are opening the door for all manner of commentary. It's best not to be too thin-skinned about anything around here,

Yeah, it's an angry world. There are a lot of angry and bitter people out there. Might not hurt them to find some religion, practice a little tolerance rather than expending all their energy on actively hating everything and everybody.

Good for you for saying so! People talk hatefully to others when they do not understand that persons perspective and believe their perspective is the right one. It would be WORK to try to believe something outside of a persons belief system (And 'work, is a four letting word ending in "k") We would ALL have to swallow our pride and ignorance if, in the end, we learned that NONE of us were right.

I don't think its ppl that don't have a religion, its just ppl that have their own beliefs, but i agree, they shouldn't insult other people's beliefs, thats like making fun a retard because they're different, and all of that is like whiping before you take a ****, doesn't make any sense, just some cold hearted people.

It's because often times people of religion ignorantly insult people of differing religions. People with no religion see people with religion constantly arguing over who is right? And we say, 'nobody is right, why don't you see that?'

It seems to me that to remain calm and discuss one's beliefs is not human... Probably due to a lack of respect for and from others...
