The crusades, the Inquisition the horrors brought upon the the indigenous Americans? I am sure there were similar occurrences in Africa and Asia, too. Probably the only continent spared from the expansion of Christianity is Antarctica.

I'm aware that evil likes to clothe itself in the name of a pure one, such as a wolf in sheep's clothing. But if you are using this pretext to say that there are no true Christians anywhere or at any time, then you are of course flat out and desperately wrong and hateful besides. God does indeed love you and wants you to be with Him in a close and meaningful relationship forever. God so loves you that He sacrificed everything of value he had just to make it possible for you to be with Him. There are many people who have called themselves Christians who have perpetrated many evils in the name of christ, but these will receive their rewards(or punishments)not as you or I might judge, but as the Father will surely judge on that last long day. What was it, exactly, that you have against God, btw?

True, but then how many horrors are comitted in the name of democracy, money, greed, race, nationality or many other reasons.
Human beings as a group dont tend to be that nice and religion is a handy excuse.

Just as with many other religions that have fought wars in order to spread their particular creed.
So don't go getting all down on Christians thinking that they are the only ones who keep murdering people in the name of GOD, who ever she might be.

I realize that there is no specific question in this statement, but I'd have to say that technically you were right. Using God as the call to arms has been a horrible thing.

Yet that insanity rests solely on the shoulders of us for our misuse of something that He would not condone.

Men suffer by the hands of men. It is not because God wills it. Jesus was hated and so are his believers. Bin Laden for example even says this is a holy war. God gave us choice, free will! So don't blame the name of Jesus. Blame the people who are using their free will to harm humanity instead of helping it!

You stated your question correctly. "in the name of Jesus". However, I'm pretty sure that even without the name "Jesus" human beings will/would in one way or another find/found a way to kill one another...Don't you agree? We killed and conquered prior to Jesus, for the exact same reasons as we did during & after Jesus. That is the nature of the beast...

Thoroughly aware... it's just a shame that the God Folk can't admit it. They will come up with any manner of excuses to say they weren't in God's name.

How about how GOD himself directed people to kill non-believers or other groups yet God Folk continue to claim how loving and caring he is.

Makes no sense.
