I was just wondering that if the events in the New Testament concerning people accepting/refusing the mark of the beast does come to pass, and even though I am Pagan, refuse that mark because I know that it is evil and wrong, will I be accepted into the christian "heaven" or still face the purgatory that christians say we are headed to anyway?
( I do not mean no offense, this is a serious question)

Gungnir,
As a pagan I do not believe that there is a beast or devil, this is a mere question from genuine curiosity.
And rp_joe, I do believe that you are passing judgement on me, or at least that is what it looks like.
Blessed be and I pray the Goddess opens your eyes, your heart and your mind.

I'm sorry people, forget I ask this question because some people are trying to read more into it than what was intended. I walked the christian path faithfully for many years and I don't see myself going back any time soon, it just didn't give me the peace that I have now. And yes, I am all over the place because I have a natural curiosity about other people and their religion.
So I want to thank those christians who read more into this question than what it was, I realize now that there is no sincere sharing of beliefs for some people. Either you are christian or you are wrong.
Have a pleasant day

Sweetheart, you choose your own destiny. If you believe in hell as a place where bad people go, and you fear you will end up there, then you will end up in the 'hell' that your mind has created. If you believe in the christian heaven and know you will go there, then that is where you will go. Same concept stands for the Summerlands, Heaven's Dark Eve, and planeswalkers alike.

Well, look at it this way: In that social setup, one will not be able to buy or sell without that mark. So, as a pagan, one would have no motivation whatsoever to NOT get it. On top of that, you say that you "know that it is evil and wrong". Well, unless you were measuring by God's standards, you would not say that. But regardless of what you think of the mark, unless you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will NOT enter into heaven. And also, "purgatory" does not exist. It's either heaven or hell. And I agree with the previous answerer, you DO sound like a caring person. However, goodness doesn't get one into heaven, and paganism definitely does not. I am not trying to judge you, I only hope to warn you, and tell the truth of how it is. It is only by the grace of God through His Son Jesus that we are accepted.
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
God bless!

Actually, that's a good question...Thing is the mark of the beast which will enable us to buy and sell (my guess it's that an all out credit/debit/ID verichip) is going to be placed even on many of those who call them "Christians". The only reason it would be wrong is because it has been prophesied that the Antichrist will call on all to get this mark. Otherwise, in all logical aspects apart from the Christian or Judaic faith, (Jews believe they may not mark their body) the idea is rather convenient, think about it...
You can't loose your hand, all you do is swipe your hand places and choose credit or debit. Besides, how else would you pay for you food, bills, gas, etc, if you did not get the mark? I'm not playing devils advocate, I'm just looking at how the world may look at it as a technological advancement and logical conclusion. After all if anyone does not have the mark, they won't be able to buy or sell, so...no eBay! :P
But all that set aside, I need to point out to you that the only reason one would choose NOT to get the mark is based mainly on Christian scripture and prophesies written about the mark. So, in essence if you think it's wrong, I hate to tell you, that is a Christian based principle. And if you refuse to get the mark and are persecuted for it, you may find that your current faith may be persuaded by the grace that would come to you for making an unknowing spiritual decision to follow the Truth. Thus if you are killed for it, I think God in His Wisdom will judge you for what you knew and how you acted accordingly. BTW, many martyrs have been baptised by their own blood at their martyrdom.
Another thing, I do not believe in purgatory, I'm an Orthodox Christian, we believe in either heaven or hell after death.

I am not sure what you mean by pagan. But I believe unless you confess your sins, Ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and live a christian life as he told us to do that you can not make it into heaven. Jesus said no one comes to the Father except through me. You sound like a good person. I would suggest you read the bible and seriously talk to the Lord, he will listen. He died so that you might live. I will pray for you. I do believe there will come a time when people will have to stand up for what they believe in and refuse to take the mark of the beast. I believe people will be martared for not taking it. This will be a time of great tribulation. God's children will be raptured before this time comes. I hope you are among them. God bless you.

I know this is a tough Word, but it is true.
It is written in II Thessalonians 2:10,11: And with all deceitfulness's of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness....
People turned over to a deceiving spirit, though they have heard of the mark, will take the mark of the beast hook, line & sinker. My pastor preached this a while back.
Just confess your sin of not believing in Jesus Christ & confess Him your Lord & Saviour & love the truth of God's love for you. That is much easier than getting turned over to a deceiving spirit.
Jesus said that those who deny Him, He will deny before the Father.
FYI the mark of the beast is an identity code put into the skin that will later become a grievious sore. The back of the hand or forhead. They already have chips in some people about medical or personal identification. Also there are records of peoples identity with 18 numbers = 9 number zip code + 9 number s.s. = 18 = 6+6+6.
Just consider the chip inserted into the little beasties we call pets.
This is a control issue by a venomous world leader (for security purposes).

No, I am sorry to say, that you will NOT be accepted by Christ OR God as worthy.
Its not that your "not a good person" because YOU SOUND LIKE a caring gentle person. Seriously. Most Pagans I've met ARE. They respect each OTHER and nature and the earth, which is more than I could say for alot of other Christians.
However, God has SPECIFIC requirements set out in the Holy Bible that must be followed for HIS WORSHIP to be acceptable to him. Otherwise he finds it a "foul odor" and unworthy of acceptance, the same with prayer, if it is performed wrong or for the wrong reasons, some prayers to God can even be considered "a sin." (1 Saul & Lam. 3:44)
So, there ARE godly requirement to meet and this is why, when people say, "many paths, or as long as you have a GOOD HEART and work for the good of all . . . they really (REALLY) haven't studied their Bible.

You seem to believe some aspects of Christianity. If you are really a pagan then you shouldn't worry about what the Holy Bible reveals about the afterlife.
If you still have concerns then you need to do some religion research and find where you truely believe is right in your heart.
(As a Christian, I will give you my opinion, for the answer to your question: Just for the hell of it: Yes purgatory is possible)

OK, I saw a History Channel thing about this--Revalations (among other writings) was an apocalyptic book. Apocalypse means "lifting the curtain/veil/covering"--apocalyptic writing is meant as a big fancy metaphor or an allegory. Apocalyptic writing doesn't mean prophetic writing--if it were prophetic, it would be *called* prophetic. I mean, Greek-speaking people in Bible times definitely understood the concept of oracles and prophecy, so you could have said "prophecy" to them and they would have understood you. The apocalyptic writing of the time was meant to talk about current leaders and political situations and the state of the world--it was only much later that people saw these books as prophecies that had yet to occur. So in that light, you should look back to history to understand the whole mark of the beast issue, not forward to some miserable future ruled by Satan and the Left Behind crew. But then, it *was* the History Channel--they do tend to look at history for answers, as evidenced by their name. So maybe they don't want to think about the future...ooooh! Whoooo-oooo! The Beeeeast is gonna get you!

I am starting to think that is more figurative language. Some people say the mark of the beast is any number of things. We don't use the term "purgatory" in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You have the right to get your own answers, anyway, and the end of the world is still aways off.

Did you know that Bank of America's international bank # is, or used to be 666? Look on your check if you have an account with B of A, it's the number code in one corner of your check that looks like xxx-xxxx/and another # on the bottom of the line which is your personal acct. # I believe. Anyway, in the book of Revelations, there is also referred to another "mark of the lamb" which is a mark made by Jesus on those who have been chosen by Him to be His sheep and follow after the Shepherd. If you have this mark, then you will be admitted into the Presence of the Father, otherwise you will not avoid your condemnation along with the rest of the dross.

The Bible is merely a metaphor, as are God and the Devil. The Mark of the Beast is just a metaphor, too. All that stuff is hocus pocus and is NOT real. No such place as hevaen or hell, either. They are a fantasy invented by mankind. When you die you go nowhere. It's like it was before you were born.
