Hot dogs are listed as a very dangerous choking hazard. Be careful! Also, they have a lot of nitrates in them which are not good for anyone, let alone kids.

Try grilled cheese with all kinds of things added to make it healthy. Tomatoes, peppers, etc. (Just be sure its well cooled and cut into appropriate size pieces.)

Bananas are good finger foods if they are cut up. Also pasta and pieces of cheese.

If you are feeding them, or they are using a spoon, try yogurt. It's great for a snack or breakfast.

Check out the AAP website, they might have suggestions. (American Academy of Pediatrics.)

Young children, especially toddlers are very picky eaters. You have to make food fun for them. Put some cheerios on a paper plate, but make two eyes, a nose and a mouth so they see a face. Hotdogs, when cut very carefully yes. If you can skin the hotdog it will be safer for them to eat. Veinna sausages as well because they are softer, and gerber graduates meat sticks. If your children have allergies watch gerber and certain hotdog brands. Mine are allergic to dairy and a lot fo gerber foods, and certain hotdog brands have milk, whey or hidden forms of dairy in them. Also try some shaved turkey or chicken or ham. Slice it into smaller cuts and roll them up as meat roll ups for them. Diced fruit is good too. Jigglers, thin jello jigglers. If you have cookie cutters you can use them too to make interesting shapes. For my toddler I make him a thin bologna sandwhich and use a circle cookie cutter to make it a circle then I cut it into wedges and we call it a bologna wheel or pizza. Again they love the fun stuff :)

Pretty much my 2.5 year old eats hot dogs (only the kosher Hebrew nationals) or chicken nuggets (frozen dino ones) every night. As long as you cut them up well, there's no real choking hazard.

What is a choking hazard is the casing, I just read an article stating the better hot dogs no longer have casing on them.

Cut hot dogs lengthwise into long strips and depending on age chop them down or let them bite off pieces Toddlers can eat many adult foods not: too hard, too spicy, or a known allergy causer like nuts

Hot dogs are fine, just cut them up into small pieces, an inch or so long. most kids love macaroni & cheese, and you can throw more cheese into add more protein and fat (for brain building ad growth).
chicken nuggets are easy for them to eat and most kids love them.
PB & J sandwiches are a good stand by, unless there are nut allergies. Raisins are great and faces can be made with raisins (eyes) and baby carrots (nose) and a strip of cheese spred (mouth)...kids like play food. cheese pizza or pizza on an english muffin are great easy meals. And of course fruit yogurt is a good old stand by and almost like desert!!

If you are a nurse, you should know that processed foods are NOT good for a child when there brain is still developing. Natural preferably organic foods are the best. This is what I fed my children and they all walked and talked by the time they were seven months old and spoke complete sentences by the time they were one.

Hot dogs can cause a big choking hazard. You should stick with: Cheerios, veggies and fruits (cut up in small pieces), small pieces of chicken, mac and cheese, sandwiches (little bites), basic things that an adult might eat
