I Have already answered this question for you. but allow me to elaborate.
Here are some other JW facts, names they don't like
Sect, Church, Cult, or even religion,
they are a society or group or in the truth.
Ok news flash a church is a place of worship weather it be a Mosque, synagogue, Yurt hole in the ground, dank cave where ever people gather for the sake of sanctafication and worship can be considered a church.
A sect is any secular group of any religion or sub set of a spcified faith or doctirine.
As for Cult well any religion that limits contact with the information out side the bonds of the church and discourages free thought and learning other then through the church is a cult, as they take over control. Any sort of fascist activity is cult like in nature.
.Did you know they very strongly discourage education especially college and University.
any higher learning out side the Church. Why you ask? yeah so did I. So I went against the church and got me some book learning college and Uni even got me a pretty degree studied all kinds of evil things like psychology and philosophy, and crazy like theology. To all those witnesses who think I am now possessed by demons, think again I am possessed by knowledge. I highly recommend you try some it's addictive and enlightening

I am an Ex JW with 15 years in the cult now deprogrammed
The doctrine is a twisted fabric of half truths and and total misconceptions.
They preach openly hatred toward other religions.
Turn a blind eye to spousal abuse toward women.
turn a blind eye to child abuse teaching openly spare the rod spoil the child.
They teach hatred toward those who do not believe what they do and that god will rain horror to the other 6.2 billion people on earth and that is is gods will they all should die. they teach only a select group of them 144,000 the anointed ones will be welcome into heaven and these people are chosen in Brooklyn
the rest of them will be left on earth to clean up the mess of 6+ billion lost lives and all the dead no matter how evil in life will be brought back given a second chance and judged over 1000 years. (yes even Hitler, Stalin, Genghis Khan, Mao tsa Tung, Pol Pot you name it) Those left over in paradise will live forever.
Christ was never nailed to a cross (even though this is historical FACT) in the new paradise even the animals will be harmless vegans.
Grapes will grow as big as basket balls, and only the righteous (them) will be left over.
But to learn the real truth about what they are really like look at the web sites run by ex JW's

First off, Jehovah’s Witnesses are not a sect, inasmuch as they are neither the disciples of some human teacher or leader nor an offshoot of any one church or sect. They follow no man but rather God and His Son Jesus Christ.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are a group of ministers and missionaries who perform evangelistic work among the people in all parts of the earth. We manifest our love for God and our fellow man by declaring God’s purposes to all the people of the whole world in the same manner as did Jesus Christ and his apostles.

Jehovah’s witnesses truly believe what the Bible says and try to live according to its principles. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, God’s revelation to mankind. We are convinced that the Bible is authentic, reliable and the only guide that leads to everlasting life. It is our textbook. We study it and use it until we know how to find the principle, the proverb or example that fits the need or the problem of the moment. To Jehovah’s witnesses the Bible is the Book of the Creator, in which God tells his creatures about creation, about Himself, about His rules of life—rules that are simple and practical.

Jehovah’s witnesses also believe that the end of this wicked system of things is very near, and so we are busily engaged in warning people of this fact. “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”—Matt. 24:14.

We believe that, after the wicked ones are destroyed, under God’s heavenly rule people are going to live forever in perfect health here on this earth restored to paradise conditions. This is God’s promise, and Jehovah’s witnesses believe it.—Ps. 37:9-11, 29.

Jehovah has organized his Witnesses into a true worldwide brotherhood, one that can never be broken by divisive national, racial, or religious interests. While the Witnesses number into the millions and live in over 200 lands, they are bound together as one in an unbreakable bond. This worldwide brotherhood, unique in all history, is indeed a modern miracle—God’s doing.—Isaiah 43:10, 11, 21; Acts 10:34, 35; Galatians 3:28.

It is of vital importance to them that their beliefs be based on the Bible and not on mere human speculations or religious creeds. They feel as did the apostle Paul when he expressed himself under inspiration: "Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar." (Romans 3:4, New World Translation*) When it comes to teachings offered as Biblical truth, the Witnesses strongly endorse the course followed by the Beroeans when they heard the apostle Paul preach: "They received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so." (Acts 17:11) Jehovah's Witnesses believe that all religious teachings should be subjected to this test of agreement with the inspired Scriptures, whether the teaching is offered by them or by someone else. They invite you—urge you—to do this in your discussions with them.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the Bible as the Word of God. They consider its 66 books to be inspired and historically accurate. What is commonly called the New Testament they refer to as the Christian Greek Scriptures, and the Old Testament they call the Hebrew Scriptures. They rely on both of these, the Greek and the Hebrew Scriptures, and take them literally except where the expressions or settings obviously indicate that they are figurative or symbolic. They understand that many of the prophecies of the Bible have been fulfilled, others are in the course of fulfillment, and still others await fulfillment.

THEIR NAME

Jehovah's Witnesses? Yes, that is the way they refer to themselves. It is a descriptive name, indicating that they bear witness concerning Jehovah, his Godship, and his purposes. "God," "Lord," and "Creator"—like "President," "King," and "General"—are titles and may be applied to several different personages. But "Jehovah" is a personal name and refers to the almighty God and Creator of the universe. This is shown at Psalm 83:18, according to the King James version of the Bible: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."

If you really want to know your going to need to talk to us face to face. Almost all the answers I read here are way off base. This is always one of my favorite questions as it is the one that requires allot of time to answer on-line.
P.S. Just because someone answering an Internet poll claims to be a Jehovah's Witness or claims to know our beliefs does not mean they are. If you really are interested then you should call your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. We are listed in most phone books.
P.P.S.S. Contrary to what I read on another poll we do not charge for information. All information is free and open to anyone.

Just a comment -

How interesting that so many who are NOT witnesses of Jehovah (and have very little true knowledge of their beliefs) choose to answer these kinds of questions. This is how many of the gross misconceptions and rumors about this Christian group have gotten started.

Firstly, the term "sect" seems unnecessarily demeaning. Secondly, the proper name of the religion is "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses". Their name can properly be shortened to "Jehovah's Witnesses" or "Witnesses" or "JWs".

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite

That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

Jesus came in 1929 and is setting His kingdom up here on this Earth, thus the name Kingdom Hall for their churches. If you go online to a search engine, you can type in Jehovah Witness and it will take you to the official site for their church and tell you all their beliefs.

JW is banned is several countries because it is a cult. You warp people's minds so they don't even want to visit their families. JW takes all joy out of life, including holidays, family, etc.

Oddly, JW encourages you to be poor and unsucessful. What a bunch of loosers.

People who try to leave discover that all of their JW "friends" will brand them and disown them. Now, that's a cult.
