I'm not totally sure, but when I get a small cut I let my chiuaua lick it. It stops bleeding-never gets infected either.

No, it is absolutely not true. Dog's mouths are full of bacteria. Imagine your mouth after not having brushed your teeth and tongue, flossed, or used mouthwash. For a year. Or more. Dogs don't clean their mouths like we do, and most dog owners don't have their dog's teeth and mouths cleaned by the vet.

If a person has a cut or sore, don't expect the dog's saliva to clean it or heal it. In fact, it may introduce new bacteria and cause the infection to worsen.

Sores should be cleaned with goodies from the first-aid kit. Start with warm water and soap. Then use isopropyl alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. After that, put some Neosporin, Bacitracin, or some other antibiotic ointment on a bandage, then put the bandage on the sore. Change the bandage a couple of times a day, more if it gets wet or dirty. The sore should heal soon enough. If it doesn't look much better in a few days, you might want to check with a doctor, nurse, or other medical worker.

Dogs saliva is not sterile, but what it is true, is that the saliva help to heal skin damages. I think is because they have many microorganisms in their mouth that produce a sort of antibiotics or sustances (I certanly don't know which sustances can be), that help destroying other bacterias and so, makes possible to heal faster.

No!!! dog saliva is not sterile, I dont have a clue where you heard that but it probably wasnt from a good source.

Dog saliva has less germs than the human saliva but it still isnt sterile.

I've seen dogs eat their own s**t. Still think it's ok for a dog to lick your open wound to make it heal faster?

yep.
Did You KnoW: that dogs have a natural instinct to lick a wound because they have such a keen sense of smell, they can detect it!

So they basically have healing abilities. Pretty cool huh.

Ewww...Yuck! No! Dogs have just as many germs in their mouth as people do. Think about it. They never even brush their teeth and they lick themselves. Never let a dog lick your open wound. Bad bad bad idea.
