This is something people have made up to try and distort Islam. Allah is an Arabic word for the God or one God. Christians in Arabic speaking countries use the word Allah. Muslims carry some of the blame for this by useing the cresent moon as a symbol for Islam. There is nothing in Islam that says this is a symbol and so it should not be used.

Allah is El is Yahweh is Jehovah...etc. No matter what "name" you give to the deity the deity in the Koran is the same deity of the Torah and the Bible. The word Allah is just the word for God in Arabic. Jewish and Christian Arabic speaking people use the word Allah to mean God (coincidently Hindus use the word Allah interchangeably with the words Ishvara and Bhagavan as well and when speaking in English the words are simply translated: God). Allah is basically the Arabic equivalent to the English use of "God". Both are terms that are used interchangeably. Allah isn't the specific name of the deity of Islam...in fact, like Judaism, the name is left as a mystery. Islam has 99 names for Allah, which all just describe His attributes (much the same way that Jews refer to God by the many attributes by calling him El-Shaddai, Elohim, Adonai, etc). Christians do the same, the exception here is that Jesus (Yeshua) is the birth given name of God incarnate, but when refering to "God" (God the Father) there are multiple names. The most common name given to "God" in the Abrahamic faiths is usually a translation of "I am" (the name God gives to Moses in Exodus). Whether it is Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, or Latin (or just "I am" from the various languages spoken by believers) this is often the only "name" of the deity.

In the end the Abrahamic God of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam was very careful to not give His name (a name is power and Pagan religions often believed that by invoking the name of the deity you then gained power of the deity.....thus the Abrahamic God refusing to give a name it means that God holds all the power). Hindus believe that whatever name you call God by that God answers, but like the Abrahamic religions the Dharmic religions believe that ultimately God is beyond all names.

As for the idea that Allah is the "moon god" there is some evidence of ancient god called Yah and that it was a moon god in a pagan pantheon of the mideast. Also words like El, El-Shaddai, Elohim, Eloha, etc are all words that contain the word "El" which is actually the head deity of the Canaanite pagan pantheon. Some scholars wonder if Abraham worshipped El exclusively in a monotheistic religion different from the other pagans around him and that as the religion developed (by the time of Moses) the concept of God was no longer associated with a single deity name, but was now much more exclusive and mysterious than the original Pagan deity.

"Allah" or "God" or "Yahweh" or whatever name you want to refer to the deity by all spoke to Abraham and set up the covenant. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Baha'i are all Abrahamic religions, tracing their origin to Abraham and the God of Abraham.

First off, the Muslim/Christian/Hebrew deity is the same figure.

Do the Italians worship a different deity because called Dio?

Do the Spanish worship a different deity called Dios?

How do you say god in German? French, Greek, Polish, Russian etc.? Are they all different deities?

You got it right! Allah is the ancient Moon god. They are just that a god, not the God, the One and only true and living Lord God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you know Jesus Christ? Here is how you can get to know Him.
Jesus Christ is the Only Way to Heaven!

In The Holy Bible in John14:6 “Jesus saith unto, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” He meant: I am the only way to get to God the Father and to heaven. I am the only truth you need to know to get to God the Father and to heaven. I am the only spiritual life available to mankind. In other words, I am the only true and living God. All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. They are Satan or his demons appearing to be gods. No other so-called god has any power to forgive, remove and cleanse men from all their sins and get them to God the Father and to heaven.
The Holy Bible in Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him (God); for he that cometh to God must believe (have faith) that he (God) is, and that he (God) is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (God).” Parentheses mine!
I pray that, by faith, you will acknowledge that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only true and living God. (Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus {that Jesus is Lord} and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believed unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”).
I pray you will believe all of this and, by faith, accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from all your sins (Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” and Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”) and that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have all your sins forgiven, removed and cleansed and the only way you can get to God the Father and to heaven. I pray you will, by faith, acknowledge all of this and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, remove and cleanse you from all your sins and accept Him into your heart and life to live for Him the rest of your life. (John l :12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to come sons {children} of God, even to them that believe on his name.”) All of this is what is meant when the Lord Jesus Christ said: “Jesus answered, and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto, Except a man be born again , he cannot see the kingdom of God (go to heaven).” You were born physically into your earthly family. To go to heaven you must be born again spiritually into your heavenly family, God's spiritual family. I pray you will, by faith, turn from all your sins and receive Jesus Christ into your life/heart today, without delay. Do that today.
